Hey guys its a new day and my first post today,i will like to start my day with African culture. Now-a-day our culture is been ignored and most of us don't remember most of our cultural practice, our culture are ment to be preserved, pratised and passed from one generation to another but since technology came it changed the world entirely and made us negelate our culture, so form now hence fort i will be promoting african culture in most of my post.
Africa is a great continent with diverse cultures and tradition. Nigeria, the giant of Africa is know to have many culture and tradition.
THE DANCE MAGICIANS OF HAUSA LAND.
The dance magicians (the Yan Hoto) has been the most popular magicians in the northern part of Nigeria. Anyone who have visited will be delighted to witness the festival of dance in which enchanting tricks are displayed from time to time in this part of Nigeria. The dancers have their head shaved and all wear the skin of a black Goat and ties leather belt round their waist, wrist and ankle to which several of charms (Juju) are fixed.
Before the particular day,several practices
Will be done to test the effectiveness of the charm (Juju) but if the charm goes in contrary to what they want, appropriate action will be taken immediately.
Several types of drums are being beating during this great dance festival, especially hemispherical calabash drum (Duma),the drum that have both sides all covered with hinds (kurya) and the small hour-glass spherical drum, that is designed to be hung from the neck .
When the people, Magicians and dancers have assembled the drummer of a certain village begins, and one of their men leaps to the center, Shouts and perform his praise song. His tricks may be to squash miraculously into a narrow necked pot . Another may pic up knife and the blade will then turn into liquid and gradually drops on the floor while another will pull how leg to be as long as anyone could imagine.
Perhaps some of this "magic" is merely optical illusion, and sometimes the claims of the magicians to perform such a feast are mere boasts but this is a true festival which provide wonderful entertainment.
