Health is indeed wealth and the state of the health of patients in a hospital like this is worrisome and calls for a review.
It was my first time at university college hospital and it was quite a sight. I had accompanied my Dad on an appointment with the doctor at the tony aneih geriatric center for his check up and while waiting I thought to survey the prestigious college hospital.
I proceeded to the general out-patients department in an attempt to see the doctor which was eventually successful after a long wait, she carried out her diagnosis and prescribed drugs which I bought at the pharmacy. Below are my observations
Despite the fact that the hospital is the last place anybody would like to be yet their general health and well-being is of the utmost importance, nevertheless we must not totally jeopardise our health in the search for treatment.
This hospital is more advantageous than most of the hospitals in the country, as many patients travelled down from various parts of the country seeking the best medical care.
Some advantages includes;
- Good, efficient and experienced medical practitioners.
- Adequate equipment and facilities.
- State of the art equipment and facilities.
- Availability of all units of treatments.
- Continuous welfare research.
- and so on.
As well as a generalized disadvantages such as
- Non challant attitude towards patients.
- Unhygienic environment.
- No payment No treatment rule.
- and so on.
The point to be noted is that hospitals such as this accommodate so many people and so could easily lead to an outbreak. We must identify the need to visit such hospitals and to take precautions while in its environment.
In my opinion, precautions such as when to speak, when to eat, where to sit, what to touch, if possible avoid using the rest rooms and so on.
Hand sanitizer could be handy too.
Many got other diseases while trying to cure another disease.
