We Hate What the Internet Has Become...

in #ulog5 years ago

Larry and I remember when the internet was simple. All you needed to do was share your email address and a pantheon of social interaction was at your fingertips.

Nowadays, you have Social Media sites that seem to limit your ability to communicate with people. For example, why advertise to the public you have a presence on Twitter but, then have your account set up to not receive messages? How are you supposed to answer the questions your adoring public might have regarding your product/service if you refuse to receive messages?

Then, they'll tell you they are on Discord. Again, this is fruitless. You search their username to find out that they cannot be found. Yee. It is like they know they screwed up with their product/service and wish not to face any social ramifications for said mistakes. So, they pretend that you can contact them about anything.

Anyone else deal with this shit? Social Media didn't used to be so convoluted. Larry puts his self out there and responds to anything that anyone might ask, even if he screwed up a product/service. He isn't scared. He is honored if a stranger wishes to speak with him. If you are a "celebrity" of some sort but, cannot handle the attention, then, why seek the attention from the start? Sorry, my mind is horribly baffled.

We miss the old days. We used to have Trolls. Now, we don't even get Trolls. Social Media is not as social as it used to be.
Seriously, we get more social interaction out of posting on Craigslist. Granted, 99% of them are scammers but, hey, at least it counts as socializing, right?

Also, Youtube didn't used to be so saturated by imitators like it is now. There are literally hundreds of channels that talk about classic video games when there used to be only a couple. We were fine with the couple. Most of these imitators are just that, imitators. Do all of them truly deserve success? What is it going to be like 10 years from now, when most people don't have jobs available to them? Are we all going to be dependent on an income from producing "been there, done that" Youtube content?

Then, you will DL something, only to find you need other components which you also must DL, then wind up with a god-damned computer virus. It used to be, you DL something, it worked all on its own. Guess those days are gone too?

Have they invented the Suicide Booth yet? I have a quarter to spend....

Much Love, Yaddy Yadda,

Mr. Dreamtree's early acrylic style. It was flat. Some folk dig this style over his current one.
