Hello Guys! What a wonderful month!
Last week end I attended a festival which is basically being celebrated by all Filipinos. The “Flores de Mayo”.
According to Wikipedia, " Flores de Mayo (Spanish for "flowers of May") is a festival held in the Philippines in the month of May. It is one of the May devotions to the Blessed Virgin Mary and lasts for the entire month.
The Santacruzan (from the Spanish santa cruz, "holy cross") is the ritual pageant held on the last day of the Flores de Mayo. It honors the finding of the True Cross by Helena of Constantinople (known as Reyna Elena) and Constantine the Great. Its connection with May stems from the old May 3 date of Roodmas, which Pope John XXIII deleted from the General Roman Calendar of 1960 as it was a duplicate of the Feast of the Exaltation of the Cross on September."
Luckily I was invited to join the Parade of this Year’s Santacruzan. I was asked to be one of the escorts of one the queens. The Reyna Abogada (Queen of Lawyers), Played by my friend which happens to be my leading lady from our last Lenten Presentation.
These is Angelic, my friend, and my the one who played Maria in our Play.
Please feel free to click the link as reference for the play I am talking about: https://steemit.com/ulog/@theloneword/bayan-umawit-the-musical-i-was-lucky-to-be-pindong-ulog-005
We took some streets that surrounds the Parish and showed up to the locals who seems so happy and smiling at us. It is so overwhelming to be a part of this celebration as a Catholic. I am surely looking forward for the next year’s celebration.
They are my Friends, who used to also be a part of the parade. Yumi and Kayoe.
Camille (on the Blue) played as another Queen in the Parade. She is my classmate in High school. She is so talented in Music.
Anyways, the experience is really great. I have been really wanting to join the parade since I was a child.
After the Parade was a mass. Where all the participants and other faithful persons celebrate the event and grace the Lord for a wonderful day and a wonderful year.
Through this experience I was able to reunite with my friends in the youth ministry and done something great for the church and as a service to God.
