Who Is Lapu-Lapu
Lapu-Lapu was a leader of Mactan in the Visayas. Present day Philippine society sees him as the principal Filipino legend since he was the main local to oppose Imperial Spanish colonization.
He is best known for the Battle of Mactan that occurred at first light on April 27, 1521, where he and his officers vanquished Portuguese wayfarer Ferdinand Magellan. The fight wound up in the slaughtering of Magellan and the finish of his endeavor and it postponed the Spanish control of the islands by more than forty years until the undertaking of Miguel López de Legazpi in 1564.
