They do build faster then things can be used it seems. I expect those ghost cities to eventually fill up with people and industries. I've been to HK it's got better traffic then Dalian in my experience.

True - HK has a great public transport system which alleviates much of the road traffic congestion. The ghost cities may fill up, true, but I just wished the fake Paris type ones would stop being built. But then, hey, China does do things 'differently' ;)
Yea Dalian has some very western areas, like complete replicas of Europe or USA.
I wrote them long ago. Here's the links. I can see why they do it. I mean for decades everything was Chairman Mao style architecture which is old. They needed something different and what is more different than these examples below.

Cool - I'll check out your posts - Yeah, it seems China has a fascination with recreating western architecture - even in Macau, an Eiffel Tower, and concrete Venetian waterways with signing men in gondolas :/
