RE: Spiritual protocol for harvesting plants or animals

in #ungrip7 years ago

Joel Salatin touches on some similar points in "The Marvelous Pigness of Pigs: Respecting and Caring for All God's Creation.

"Modern factory farms and slaughter houses violate every tenant of this principle and results in untold violence as a result. It also removes the responsibility from us where each individual needs to work on this relationship. " A gal I work with was mortified that I had no problem humanely processing the animals that I nurtured and raised for food or assisting a fellow homesteader in doing so. She did not however have a problem with slaughter houses. There is a tremendous disconnect!

I love Joel Salatin. I met him in Calgary years ago. Wonderful man, wonderful message. I agree with your statement 'tremendous disconnect'! <3

Watching Food Inc. and listening to to him talk was something else that started me down a path to connect to what I eat and how it's grown and sourced. It's really not enough just to raise the animals, but to be conscious of what they eat, and their space and living conditions. It's all so important. Thank you for the post.

You are so right. That is how I found out about him too, through the film 'Food Inc.'. Wonderful to hear from you and share your journey. Thank you. Well done. It is all very important and I am grateful that you are exploring those relationships. It will enrich your life, of that I have no doubt.
