Lots of uses. lol. We have a lot of ice here due to the really warm weather. A few pails of it was spread to keep the vehicles from crashing through the gate and prevent elders from slipping and falling. Thank you for sharing. Compost would be a nice place to put it as well. The ash does indeed melt snow faster too. I found that to be true when we spread ash in the garden during the winter.

I'm going to have to try it on my front steps! I just learned a few hours ago that the roof overhang conveniently stops to drip on the bottom step of the front door.

That seems to be rather inconvenient! lol If your roof is dripping is it due to poor insulation in the roof or snow melt due to the warm weather?

Yeah it's a design flaw! It's mostly due to warm weather getting above freezing.
