The statue was discovered an international team led by archaeologist, Professor Ian Hodder from Stanford University. With a size of 6.7 inches (17 cm) long and weighs 2.2 pounds (1 kg), and carved out of marble.

Hodder said the statue was found along with a piece of obsidian which suggests that it may have been placed there as part of some ritual.

The statue is considered a 'goddess of fertility. However, Hodder cites new theory shows this object is an older woman who has achieved a certain status.

"The statue is certainly shows a new interpretation with sagging breasts and stomach," he said, as quoted Scinews (19/09/2016).

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkey said in a release will be the findings as the best because of its shape intact and pengerjaannnya smooth.

Site Çatalhöyük, where the statue was found is one of the largest Neolithic sites and the best in the world. Located in the southeastern city of modern Turkey Konya, about 90 miles from Mount Hasan
