I’ve always been scared of new beginnings. Kind of like putting down a good book and not being sure if the next one will match it. And if it does, will I ever want to put it down? Ending high school and starting university right after seemed daunting, but little did I know what was in store for me.

I hate starting fresh. But that’s the good thing about university. About fresh starts. They’re not really fresh, are they?
You’re sitting in the front row as some admin guy brawls about the rules and regulations while you wait for your turn during admissions and someone taps on your shoulder, and it’s a face you know. And here you thought, the high school book was closed forever.
Two years have flown by, and you think nothing can surprise you anymore. But then, you discover that the person you’ve been gathering the courage to befriend shares a common best friend with you.
University is full of these moments. It’s a small world when you’ve lived in the same city all your life. It’s not to say you can never have a fresh start, but how easy it is to connect the dots in a world that seemed so strange at first sight. How familiar the feeling of making friends is when you share the same comfort spot, or find out how you’ve probably crossed paths a million times.
Old faces reappear when you least expect them, and new connections form in the most surprising ways. It’s a mix of nostalgia and anticipation, where every ending is just the beginning of something new.
Or endings don’t necessarily hold true to their name, they’re just temporary pauses waiting for you to catch up. That’s the good thing, you’ve finally got your own timeline to work on. And no matter where you are, someone will find their way to you, and you will as well.
While you’re here, it’s never about closing a book, it’s always been starting a new chapter. Fresh characters coming in, old ones going out and even older ones making reappearances.
Little dots scattered across the map of your life, revisiting places you thought you had said goodbye to, only to find the memories refreshed with a clean slate. College life is kind of like Wikipedia, it’s a game of clicking on each connection until you land back on yourself.
