RE: Unschooling Blog, Vol. 26: Kids Don't Need School to Learn to Read (Learning to read is as natural as learning to walk.)

Awesome, and I appreciate those references - I don't have kids myself (though hopefully someday, knock on wood) I still find the topic fascinating and may just check out one or three of those titles for fun ;)

"age segregated indoctrination centers." - bold words, but from what I've been learning recently that's more or less the truth. I mean seriously..the pledge of allegiance?! (For those of us in the US).

Re "forcing people to surrender their children to the state under threat of violence/sanction is unethical." -- agreed, and again I don't know the details of this especially since I'm not a parent, but if you officially say your child will be homeschooled you don't have to worry about that, right?

I went to Montessori preschool myself and still have fond memories, hehe. I remember the different color readers and all that..though I'm sure things are different now.

Glad to follow you on here. That is so cool you went to a Montessori school. It has probably changed a lot less than you might imagine! Having kids will change your life, my friend! Blessings.

Thanks, likewise. I'll keep that in mind for when I'm at that stage of my life..I still need to meet that lucky lady first :P
