I am so sad today because my Internet connection is so slow I am not even connecting. Now it seems to be working because I can post now but this doesn't mean that I have a good Internet connection especially when speed is concerned much less the connection itself if it would go through or not. Quite frustrating and I seem to not get also the best optimum signal for my modem too.
I am just using a VPN and sometimes the other users are misusing the servers and are trying to download torrent files using regular servers so these servers get banned or deactivated in the process. So what happens is that when the servers gets unupdated, we would not know which are deactivated or not so we would guess and of course it will be hard to choose especially if a working server is slow to connect.
It really is not an option for me to subscribe to a regular connection as they are too expensive. I am only tthe one using Internet in my home and both my parents doesn't what a "file" means so they have no clue how Internet works. Now if I would ask my cousin to share the cost if I would subscribe, she might not pay me her dues because she has no work. Well in other words I have no one to share the costs around here.
The internet services in my country charges ridiculous amounts of money for a small amount of data allocation as if people are just using Twitter or facebook. They don't know or maybe even care that people just wants to stream and download things and that requires a big data allocations. I hope that my VPN would soon be able to use this Internet service provider with a good signal strength in our area so that I can finally have a better connection speed. Right now my connection is as slow as my love life.
Many countries suffer from poor / expensive internet unfortunately.
Parts of Africa are bad as well.
I was talking to some people there about an app I came up with called "Charity-Gigs" basically I pay for x amount of data allowance per month, but if I don't use it, it goes to waste.
I want to give that away to people like yourself. My idea is to install an app, that allows me to set aside an amount (as fixed or %), that goes into a common 'pool', and request packets from you, go via that pool and use my data allowance.
The telcos will hate it :-)

That is cool @fred777bear We just need a revolt against Internet Service Providers because they are such an oligarch that squeezes people white out of their money and people are so affected by it. Internet is now a basic right like air or free speech and must be made accessible, heck fast food stores give connections for free! While ISP's charge to get your arm or leg. It is bad when oligarchy or monopoly runs rampant in one's country.
That is why this VPN services pops out because regular connections are a robbery.

In my place, internet speed is pretty good. I don't usually face much problem except some occasional hiccup during pick our. But problem is there is little unlimited package. so I have to be more careful in consuming my data.
here in india, internet speed is pretty bad for the most part, but its improving very fast. Average internet speed doubled over the last year.
Here in Mumbai, I pay INR 1500 ($23) for 80GB@16Mbps. It's good enough for 720p video, but not much more than that. Although there's a lot of talk about 100Mbps and even gigabit internet going on, so hopefully it will improve a lot in the future.

I have Globe and I pay 1200 php (25$) a month for 50gb @ 5mbps and it sucks. They told me it was unlimited but after the 50gb was used the speed would be reduced by 40% but after I use the 50 I can't even load a web page its so slow. I guess thats the kind of shit you got to put up with when theres only 2 companies that have a duopoly over internet services.
We need much Internet providers so that their services are improved because there will be a competition but small ones just gets merged to the big ones.
unfortunately we are also suffering from expensive & slow internet. :(
