When i initially had purchased DeepOnon coin i was ecstatic to install the wallet. The only problem was i had issues with the wallet syncing, and it wasn't as easy as i hoped for. Luckily through the DeepOnion community i was able to get things up and running. I wanted to post a tutorial video to make it easier for users to create their DeepOnion wallet who use a Mac.
Below is the video as well as step by step instructions.
- Login to https://deeponion.org
- Click the download button in blue
- Select the Mac OS Wallet. A dmg file will download to your computer.
- Open the DMG file. Drag the DeepOnion-QT file to applications.
- Launch DeepOnion-QT. If you have issues launching select Open Anyways in the unidentified developer area in your Security Settings.
- Once launched it may or may not sync. If it is beginning to sync all you have to do is wait until the red (out of sync) message is gone. If it is not syncing at all see step 7.If it is synching skip to step 13.
- Logon to https://deeponion.org/DeepOnion.conf.php. Click the green button that says Download "DeepOnion.conf"
- Save it onto your computer.
- Go to Library and Application Support. Select the DeepOnion folder. You will copy and paste the conf.txt file right into the DeepOnion folder.
- Rename the file removing the .txt extension. When it prompts you select use .conf
- Exit out of the DeepOnion Wallet.
- Open it back up. It should start synching. From my experience it has taken 8-12 hours to update.
- Now that you've waited patiently your wallet is now fully synced!
I just heard about DeepOnion the other day and have been looking into it. Thanks for the post, lots of good information. Some of this stuff can be difficult for us Mac users sometimes!
Thanks for checking out the post. DeepOnion has a really great community. There are not a lot of mac users that use the wallet compared to windows so i wanted to make this easy for mac users.
I definitely appreciate it!
