The American Defense Secretary Jim Mattis says the United States has no evidence on the Syrian government using Sarin on its own people.

“We have other reports from the battlefield from people who claim it's been used,” says Mattis. “We do not have evidence of it, we're looking for evidence of it since clearly, we are dealing with the Assad regime that has used denial and deceit to hide their outlaw actions”

Syrian president Basher Assad has maintained his government never used chemical weapons on its own people. But Mattis claims his government did use Chlorine gas on the Syrian citizens.

Classified as GB according to NATO, Sarin is a colourless and odourless gas that attacks the nervous system by attacking the neurotransmitters, which causes paralysis and even death.

A few months ago, the United States launched more than 10 Tomahawk cruise missiles at a Syrian airbase to revenge Assad government's chemical weapons attack on civilians. Washington has also accused Damascus of manufacturing new and dangerous types of weapons that are capable of delivering deadly chemical warheads.

While at the Pentagon, Mattis spoke about the above-mentioned attack saying, “We are on the record and you all have seen how we reacted to that, so they would be ill-advised to go back to violating the chemical (weapons) convention."

For now, Trump’s administration has not commented on any further military action and neither do they see any actions imminent. However, it is seeking new ways to get hold of users of chemical weapons and is even seeking Russian help to force Syria to end the attacks.
