Listened to Kamala Harris' speech

in #usa4 months ago

The day before yesterday, I went to the orthopedist because of a pain in my left knee and listened to Kamala Harris' speech on the TV in the waiting room, which was reporting the US presidential election.

My left knee was X-rayed and I saw that the cartilage was thinning (I had the same symptom four years ago), but I was relieved that the doctor said it was at a manageable level with compresses and some medication.

Kamala Harris' speech was full of pride that America is a republic, and the words freedom and democracy were used a lot. She emphasized that she comes from a middle class background and also said that she would strive for her country where everyone's dreams come true. She is the first woman of color presidential candidate in the United States.

Robert Reich, a well-known economist on the American left, said of her and vice presidential candidate Tim Walz on Facebook, "She would make a great president. Walz would make a great vice president," he exclaimed.

Yes, I don't want Trump to be re-elected president, who says "Nice" about leaders like Kim Jong-un and Putin, I want Kamala to win.

However, I saw Michael Moore's film "Sicko" about health care issues, which makes me a bit uneasy. Will America ever be able to have universal health care? I'm sure there will be those who will object, saying, "It would be a loss of American freedom." It will be extremely difficult to make it happen.

Even Biden has failed to face the Palestinian issue. Then there is the economic blockade of Cuba, which Obama made some effort to do, but has remained unresolved since Trump was president.

What about gun control?

I can now understand a little better how those who supported Trump feel. I guess they didn't like the politics that reeked of elitism up to this point and wanted something different.

Anyway, America is the world's largest country, so it has a big impact on other countries. America and Japan are allies, so what happens in America will directly affect Japan.

I just hope that Kamala Harris wins.
