Utopian.io Tutorial!

in #utopian-io7 years ago

I was fortunate enough to have a 40+ minute call with @elear to talk about the utopian-io project and to walk my way through the interface and actually submit my first contribution to the project. That contribution is this video tutorial on how to get involved in utopian.io, how to submit to it, and how to get rewarded by it.

The first time I logged into the system I felt a little overwhelmed as I was trying to figure out all that was going on. I thought people, and minnows especially would have a hard time figuring this place out, but with upvotes worth several hundred dollars it seems worth the time to figure it out.

I'm personally quite excited for this project and thinking about ways that I can contribute to it.

Utopian is definitely a great project and I love the fact that, it's getting the attention it deserved.

@elear is really a working machine and I appreciate all that he's doing with the project.

Thanks @aggroed for focusing on the basics of utopian for someone like me who has been lazy to find out how to easily get involved and use the platform.

Great Interview

He's top notch! It isn't only lazy. This thing is big and kinda tricky to figure out at first!

so, are there any instructions or "how to" page? :)

not really? I didn't see them

Hay will definitely watch this video and I do really appreciate that you had choose this topic for a video because I also had a many confusion about it.

So did I! That's where this came from!

It really help me my friend thanks

Thankful @aggroed that you published this on Utopian.io I listened twice to the Steemit Growth Forum and took notes. I heard utopian mentioned and had no idea what it was but it certainly sparked attention for me.

Adding one more thing to my "to do list" here but I have that feeling that it will be worth my time.

PS, I think the Steemit Growth Forum was absolutely brilliant. I had no idea so many were focused on helping others and the inter-workings of the entire platform. A lot of analytical thinking and approaches on how to make Steemit more efficient so I had to resteem your post on it. Hope others see the integrity here in this community.

Did you publish your notes? If you do be sure to tag transisto because he said he'd upvote someone that did that for him. Especially if you have time and people speaking that will go a long way.

No I haven't . That is a good idea though of course. I did see another member who took notes and published, probably still open in one of my browsers here. I should have instantly resteemed it for her but didn't :(

I honestly do not know how some of you and other Steemians keep up. I've been trying to schedule a simple shower for 2 days now LOL If I can't find her post with the notes I'll pull mine together this evening. Thank you for all you do! PS you are an awesome MC btw.

@aggroed thank you for the info. This is something worthy of looking into. and is awesome how such idea can become a reality. Thank you in advanced for taking the time of putting this tutorial together. Kudos. Best wishes to you always.

I think ,I need machine learning...
;-)
Feeling like a third class asset here...what the tech!!!
Need to get with the program I guess..
Hope you have a great day downloading turkey with the Fam.
:-)

utopian it is gread project i wish next year will be wonderful.

Sounds great. A good way to keep the programmers happy and support them. I would guess that this will boost the output.

Utopian is really cool!

I'm not familiar with it, but Good Luck to the Utopian project.

@aggroed great video introducing @utopian-io how to use it, how to contribute, and all the things that can be done, you cover pretty much everything a new person needs to know. Upvoted. Thanks for sharing this great interview with @elear the utopian-io creator. @gold84

Genius idea. Helps to have @elear's batphone a little but seriously, great work.

I didn't know that the first tag was 'utopian-io' and wondered why the limit was popping up as 4.

Really good to get @elear to explain the categories a little more. I think many Steemians (have received a few comments suggesting this) are fearful about even visiting the site, with the 'I've got no programming skills so i'm not going to bother'.

If you check around the hot/trending #utopian-io posts, you can see how the bot has rewarded the contribution vote % wise, which is how I've learned which categories are getting the better rewards.

I suggest checking the correct repository with the mods on the utopian discord channel - I've not managed to choose the correct repository 1st time out yet, so next time i'll just ask over there first!

Great Stuff!

Well it's pretty easy to get the batphone of people around here. All you have to do is spend nearly every waking minute on the platform helping it, while running a witness, and running the largest Steemian Discord group...

yeah, ok, so it's hard to get there, but anyone that puts a lot of contributions into this place will get there.

How's the recording sound? Did my kids get in there much?

How's the recording sound? Did my kids get in there much?

You're asking me because of the comments thus far you know that gave it a listen before responding! :) I could hear a little background noise, didn't spoil it at all though.

I had the chance to speak to elear at Steemfest, didn't make good use of my time there, and wasn't really 'up' on what @utopian-io was all about.

That's all changed now though!

Last weeks 'show' hosted by yourself was epic, you deserve all you receive, and likely a little more!

Great interview. I heard about utopian before, but never got into details. In fact, I was planning to write a post imagining how we can change steemit a bit , and now after this interview I realized that some of my ideas are very similar to the concept of utopian.io
Very sad, I thought I came up with something new and voila it is already taken :)
P.S. @aggroed please make a higher quality of video next time, at least 720p. You would really contribute to people with big monitors and bad eye vision :)

i watch your tutorial just.. i realize that your post get news update and learning together...@aggroed

Hay sir now I had sort of data so I had put it to download list for low resolution. I like the Utopia idea and all about there platform .

@aggroed
I find these types of projects interesting, but many times they are only in English :( and at least I'm not very good at it.) It would be great if they could publish them with Spanish translation, as a suggestion.
Good luck in the project!

You can make them and get paid! That's one of the options!

Wow, this is so good of you, thanks for the tutorial.

i wish to get more insight on @utopian... so i followed you

The utopian project has come a long way, and the way its growing its definitely to greatness

This is so good..

Awesome, for the last 2 days I have been looking for exactly what utopian.io is all about, but this tutorial tells it all. Thanks

Great! Glad I could help you!

Yep :)

This was very helpful for the average utopian noob! I realize that most people don't study things for 12 hours in a row! We need more tutorials made I think....

I'll work on it. I gotta see how the bot votes me before I figure out how much of a depature from other stuff to make.

Hey, maybe you can help spread the word about the GIF contest? That contest for Utopian GIFs was designed for regular creative people...

For you? ok

@aggroed the bot gave you a good vote compared to the average. We have been lowering it a little bit in general until the quality of the contributions submitted on the platform increases. There is a max cap of 20% for video tutorials. So practically you had one of the biggest vote in the entire category considering the competition :)

(Bot vote) not bad for starters?

Had to RS this just, getting tired of typing to people to come take a look!

Hey @aggroed I am @utopian-io. I have just upvoted you at 11% Power!

Can you talk me through on this blog or comment what that means? This is still a tutorial post and having some sense of timing and what happens next will help this audience!

What that means, is that your post is now on utopian, and gets a vote from the utopian bot :). (since each post on utopian needs to be approved by a moderator before it shows up)

Well I get that, when does the vote come how was it chosen?

The vote will come after at least 6 hours but usually is way more since the bot starts only at 100% vp

How is the order of votes determined? Is it chronological based off of when they are approved?

Chronological based on when they are submitted. Moderation is chronological starting from the oldest even though I think zeartul made an exception in this case :D

Moderators have a strict set of rules by which posts are chosen, and the bot is continually improved upon, so I do not have up to the minute info on when the vote comes, however, I know that it's proportional to the amount of natural votes you get during a certain time period.

Hi @aggroad the utopian-io vote will come after it recharge its VP to 100%.

Votes come in if your post is accepted by other mods to get a vote from the bot which happens after it reaches 100%.
