i like this even though i don't understand some of it because i have been a user of open source things in a small way, In my small foray into virtual worlds i used a few sim templates that were open source and basically it meant that someone else did all the work and shared it for the rest of humanity to use for free :) I am a big fan of open source just because of what it represents, i suppose if we went back 1000s of years and someone invented a flint axe, they could ponder on selling it at a profit or just make some for the community as a whole to benefit everyone,its that aspect that i like, imagine if the same philosophy applied to drug companies that find a cure for something and then withold it from the poor, imagine also a world without profit and the only value was gained from the esteem of what was done with a discovery or product, voted on by the community wouldn't it so be a better world :) Im thinking this article represents just that \o/
