RE: @utopian-io - Contribution 'Approved/Rejected' Analysis - 23rd Feb - 1st March 2018

Unfortunately, changing of Utopian rules in January did not help much in the struggle for the quality of translations, but, on the contrary, only lulled the vigilance of the moderators. The attempt to throw all responsibility to the owners of projects failed, and scammers adapted to the new situation very quickly. Since project owners at Crowdin can not verify the quality of translations into different languages, they tend to trust translators and give a proofreader's role to anyone who asks.

I can not say for the other languages, only for Russian and Ukrainian, in which I myself am a contributor. So, for the last month there were a lot of Indonesians who started to make Russian / Ukrainian translations and submit them through Utopian. And the worst thing is that they were accepted by project owners, merged, and they were paid by Utopian, because at that time there was no Russian-speaking moderator who could check the quality of their translations.
I was contacted by 2 other contributors, they turned my attention to this detail. Together we found and reported more than 10 cheaters a week. Substandard contributions were rejected / unvoted, and users added to the Blacklist. But ... by the time we found these people, each of them managed to have 3-5 posts already paid out up to 20-30 dollars per post, and their fake transfers are still part of someone's projects.

So, the real quality of some of these 85% translators contributions that have been approved and paid by Utopian can be questionable. Let's hope that the developers come up with a more effective way to deal with scammers.
