Will we see the Technological Singularity? part 1

in #utopian-io7 years ago

We happened to be born and live at such a wonderful time. A new digital revolution is underway at our moment. We all see how computer technology has developed in recent years, electric vehicles, flying motorcycles, quadrocopters, crypto-currency, and much more.

There is a Concept, whose supporters believe that after a certain time, technological progress will become so fast and complex that it will be inaccessible to understanding and presumably will occur after the creation of artificial intelligence. This is the concept of technological singularity.
In the origins of the creation of this concept lie such famous philosophers as Friedrich Engels, who, based on the work of Ernst Haeckel.

The term "singularity" is borrowed from mathematicians and astrophysicists, who use it in describing cosmic black holes and in some theories of the beginning of the universe - a point with infinitely large density and temperature and an infinitesimal volume.

Of course, this concept has critics who argue that such a drastic change can not be. But critics do not deny the fact that this can happen in the most developed countries. In such countries, technological growth relies not on the number of people, but on the level of education and activity in scientific research.

Now let's talk logically. We all see how technology is developing. What was amazing 5 years ago, today is already outdated technology. Every year, the capacity of processors grows, they create more powerful and smart computers and technologies. Internet technologies also do not stand still. Therefore, the appearance of a strong artificial intelligence is a matter of time.

Do you think that the achievement of Technological Singularity is possible?

Sort:

Some people are arguing that the singularity has already occurred...

this may be true, but we see how growth continues and it accelerates

Yes, it's amazing.

It is quite possible. With human greed and science advances there are going to be end points. Robots will be intelligent and when they realize how stupid we are they may create even more complex technologie out of our comprehension. Who knows what it is going to be :)

I agree with you, it can be very unexpected for all of us. Our brain can not imagine what the brain of a machine is 1000000 times smarter than us :)

Yes...It has already begun. The Singularity is just the beginning of the great Simulation.

I agree with you
