We've come a long way since we published 'Introducing HapRamp' blog and open-sourced our alpha web app last month. Developing on Steem Blockchain would have been tough without the feedback and help from the Steem community and especially from the people behind @utopian-io.
To be accountable for the platform we are building and keep Steem community in the loop, we'll be posting regular updates now. If you've missed any of our development or other updates previously, this blog will help you catch-up with what we've been doing at HapRamp lately.
Before we jump into the updates, here is a short description of HapRamp (for those who are seeing this Steem project for the first time).
HapRamp is a Steem Blockchain powered social media for the creative communities. On HapRamp, users will be able to choose their community of interest out the nine communities available on the platform. Users can filter their feed based on their interests and share their work with the like-minded people. HapRamp will be equipped with all the tools and features that the creators need to express themselves on the Internet. And all the benefits of Steem Blockchain such as rewards, decentralization etc. are inherent to the platform.
1. Steemconnect4j updates
The popular Steem-Blockchain Dapps: @busy, @DTube, @dmania etc. are all using standard #SteemConnect for user authentication and #steem wallet security. HapRamp's web app also supports the Steemconnect now.
But it was not possible to provide the Steemconnect support in our Android application. To solve that issue @bxute and @singhpratyush developed an SDK: Steemconnect4j. It makes token-based authentication and wallet security on Java projects (Android and jetty) convenient.
The SDK is open-source and you can find it on our Github: https://github.com/hapramp/steemconnect4j
Recently we did some bug fixing and security enhancements in the Steemconnect4j, link to which is provided in the backlinks section of this blog.
2. Android App Updates
Our first aim is to equip HapRamp's Android app with all the features that Steemians get on the web apps (Steemit and Busy); this update took us a step closer to that. Now users can see the transaction history (along with memo) and a detailed view of steem wallet balance on the Android app itself.
Apart from the updates in the wallet, we've also implemented user search by the username in our Android app. The link to a detailed blog on these update is given below in the series backlinks.
3. Landing Page Updates
Earlier, HapRamp's landing page was wordy and only those who knew about Steem Blockchain and Cryptocurrency could understand what we are building. In the last two weeks, we've made a number of small tweaks in the content and design to help everyone understand the platform. The major changes are: added latest twitter feed section, copywriting, links to our Github org, invite link to our discord (interacting directly with people is the best way to help them understand this new ecosystem) and updated contact details.
4. Medium Publication
In the last week, we updated the look and feel of our Medium publication. We are using our Medium to publish educational blogs for the general audience on Steem Blockchain, community, stories, and press updates. Our aim with the medium publication is to educate people about Steem Blockchain and onboard more creators to this ecosystem.
What's next?
Shifting to a new workplace slowed us down by a couple of weeks. We are working on to get back to the pace and announce the app launch as soon as possible.
The team is already using the Android application to find fatal functionality issues as of now. We also want to get in touch with more people from Steem community to do us a favour to use our app and provide feedback.
If you are interested in using our app early and want to help us with feedback to improve it, do join our Discord (invite link) or drop an email at hi [at] hapramp [dot] com.
