How to work with Fingerprint scanner using Arduino nano

in #utopian-io7 years ago (edited)

What Will I Learn?

In this tutorial we will learn

  • How to work with Ada fruit fingerprint scanner (R307) on arduino nano using the Adafruit-Fingerprint-Sensor-Library on github

  • How to properly connect the components on the arduino nano board.

Requirements

  • Arduino Nano R3

The Arduino Nano is one of the smallest and yet most exciting breadboard-friendly boards available on the market today. It's become exceptionally popular with beginner programmers thanks to its excellent functionality and the sheer variation of potential applications. Based on the ATmega328P, this tool is fantastic for those who wish to improve their programming skills and create some interesting and unusual projects. reference

Tutorial Contents

  • SOFTWARE
We will be using the arduino ide, to set the sketch for this, if you dont have make sure to download the Arduino IDE for your specific operating system. ILink is provided below so that you can download the software: https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

  • LIBRARIES
To run the program and to make sketching a code easily we need to download these library.

Step 1. Connecting the wires

  • pin D2 is IN from sensor (Yellow wire)
  • pin D3 is OUT from arduino (White wire)
  • GND (Black)
  • 5V (Red)

Step 2. Connect the arduino nano board to your computer/laptop using the Type B usb cable included in the package. open the arduino Desktop IDE locate the TOOLS verify the type of board you are using PORT should be on the COM# and the board should be on the arduino nano.
