Top 10 paid out comments in Steem history

in #utopian-io6 years ago (edited)

Not long ago I did the Top 10 paid out posts in Steem History that was quite interesting.

Did you know the #1 post was for 46,973.86?

This post will showcase the top 10 comments ranked by payout value.

#1 - $2,982.97

#2 - $2,590.02

#3 - $2,585.51

#4 - $2,383.24

#5 - $2,179.57

#6 - $2,088.52

#7 - $1,96.54

#8 - $1,888.10

#9 - $1,825.99

#10 - $1,741.64

Conclusion

famous aggrandizement comment which if I remember correctly was near $3,800 at one point prior to flags. This would have easily taken the #1 spot. Not on this list is @ned's

I find it interesting the #1 comment in this list is for a user who is now (-15), not that rep has any meaning here. It's fascinating to look back at posts, comments, and users from the beginning of Steem to see how things have changed.

The last comment for $1,741.64 with only the Steem logo looks bad out of context but is the post where they were deciding on the Steem token logo which @spectral created.

It's interesting looking back at these "historic moments" in Steem. Things were different back then, and good ideas and actions got handsomely rewarded, in many cases insanely well.

I don't think you will ever see post and comment values like this anymore, we live in a different era than back then.

It was different back then. People manually curated and most people used 100% upvotes too. It was far less competition on Steemit so it was easier to get recognition and rewards too. Whales where actively curating content instead of delegating their stake to bid-bots for money.

I had a handful of articles in the past with payouts of more than $100, $200 and even $400+. So sure, I miss the rewards, which I think most people does in a way... But it's better nowadays, even if Steemit seems to be broken.

It was during that time the circle-jerks began, and it's far too lucrative for the circle-jerkers to stop nowadays, due to how much people successfully boosted each other back then.

Of course it was easier to get rewards, the annual inflation rate was 160%. Looking at these as dollar values is incredibly misleading - colossal rewards were available but people needed them just to tread water against devaluation.

Not entirely true, there was indeed dilution as more people came on line. For instance I had a $4000 post go down to around $1500 between May and July, so still pretty good.

Plus of course if any of those comments were after July 4th 2016, they paid out the next day and hardly suffered any dilution at all.

~ goes all misty eyed ~ those were the days

Lolz

But They are 2 years old. Are all commenters active in Steemit now?

#11
^I don't see any reason for this comment to be the eleventh most upvoted one in the history. Were there bidbots back in then? Or people genuinely read and curate already a few content in the platform.

Would be interesting to compare this with the top 10 comment & post pay-outs over the last 100 days. @themarkymark

And they went on to do great things :)

I'm sure most of those values were bought, but JAYsus.

Not really, was a different time and a different price (most around $0.05)

Having said that, where's my 100% Buildawhale upvote!

same place mine is.

You're no fun, no wonder they cancelled Firefly :P

That was my favourite too, just because. Cute. And 2,383.24 buys a lot of munchies.

Very cool, never realized comments could make so much money.

Should see the posts one I did. $46K.

You will never see post rewards at those numbers again in my opinion. Comments yeah, possible, not likely.

My goodness! How is it possible?

Surely there's some way to weight payouts against the inflation rate so we can adjust across eras. Comparing pre-HF16 to now directly doesn't really work.

It doesn't quite work I agree, but it's still valuable and relative.

tfw will never make a year's salary on one shitpost

Sooo .. who still believes that the reward distribution was fairer in the good ol' days before evil promotion services ruined Steem(it)..?

Number six is in jail I believe on serious charges.

wow...what happened? backstory link?

You can read some of it here, https://steemit.com/tradeqwik/@williambanks/stay-strong

I'm not going to bring up the other accusations in case they are proven to not be true. I haven't really followed it, but as far as I know, VIVA is dead and he was in jail for unrelated matters.

Wow, and I thought my mate @bleepcoin's $900 odd comment was the highest of all time!

Things were very different back then, we had just a few thousand users and payouts hadn't actually happened yet (pre July 4th 2016). Ergo most people were still calling Steemit a scam and a Ponzi.

We will never go back to those times, unless of course Steem hits $1000 at some point in the future :-)

Almost!

How you get this data? What you use exactly? I want to make similar list and wondering how to do it.Nice payouts and great post @themarkymark

I had one post get $80... that was a miracle for me.

The bots are killing Steemit.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Nah it’s the spammers and plagiarists.

Yeah they are even worse than the bots... I mute the spammers and plagiarizes... and they disappear forever.

Posted using Partiko iOS

Doesn’t remove their rewards which are plentiful.
