RE: Utopian + DaVinci Witness Project: Steem White Paper (Genesis) - English to Polish translation report

in #utopian-io6 years ago

Hi @yasminafly,

thank you for the contrbution.

This time I found a few mistakes that I would like to draw your attention to. Let's take the following sentence for the start:

"It would be like the CEO of a company deciding to stop paying salaries so he could pocket all of the profits.", which you translated as "Byłoby to jak Dyrektor Generalny firmy decydujący o zaprzestaniu wypłacania pensji, by przejąć wszystkie zyski.".

I think that not many Poles would understand what is the meaning of this sentence. It sounds much more clearly translated as: "Analogiczna sytuacja ma miejsce, kiedy prezes przestaje płacić pracownikom, zagarniając wszystkie pieniądze dla siebie."

As I mentioned earlier, it is often difficult to understand the sentences translated by you. As a person who knows Polish very well, it is difficult for me to understand some of them.

The last thing I would like to mention is correctness with spaces and commas. Please, try to pay special attention to it. The rest of your translation was accurate, good luck in your future work.

Hi @villaincandle and thanks for your feedback. I think it's time to invest in glasses I guess. Usually when there are spaces the system gives the warning, so not sure it's possible for some spaces to get through anyway, but it's easy to miss them when you don't get the warning. I will try to pay attention to it then.
And with Polish sentences probably the issue is that after few years of living abroad and not using your language you start Englishize when building sentences in Polish, which I knew has been increasingly some issue, but wasn't aware that it was to such an extent. Will try to think in Polish rather than in English when doing these translations :)

Thank you for your review, @villaincandle!
