After my great flea markets scores we headed to the cabin. We have been coming up to this cabin for over 10yrs. It's owned by my In-laws and we have access whenever we want to use it.
The cabin sits in the middle of the Huron National Forrest. Until late last year it had no running water as many of the cabins around it. It sits about 100 yards off the AuSable River, which is a huge party river. You see tubes, kayakers, paddle boats and just about anything else you can float in.
The trip we take is about 4hrs, depending on water speed and depth. We start at the bridge (Green dot) on the right and end at the cabin (Dot on the left). Here is what it looks like.
As you can see it's not a built up area. You see a few cabins on the river, but mostly just nature.
Drinking has commenced at this point and we still have to load the kayaks. By the time we got everything ready and packed, we were running about 3hrs behind. When you're "Up North" time doesn't really matter. With everything packed and everyone ready we headed to the water.
Finally on the Water
At this point, it was about 6:00pm and the @ssg-community Mega Raffle was at 7:00pm. I had downloaded Discord for my phone but wasn't sure it would work on the river. Luckily I had good coverage and was able to somewhat keep up.
While drinking, trying not to drop my phone in the river and keeping up with the pack, I was able to get some pics from down the river.
Canadian Geese
These things are everywhere. Here is a family of 5 that was hanging out by the bank. We talked as we passed each other. They seemed to be having a good time also. It was a beautiful day.
Raffle Time
The raffle was getting under way and we were in the middle of nowhere. I remember the raffle was starting at this point because I took a pic of the Totem Pole in this yard. It got me wondering if anyone had submitted any Canadian Totem Dollars.
My Dream Home
I got a shot of this cabin on the hill in case I won everything in the raffle and had a down payment for it. 😂😂😂
Bald Eagle
I posted this pic the other day, but I'll use it again. We saw several, I want to say 5 Eagles, as we made our way down the river. They are so beautiful and these pictures don't do them justice. This one had at least a 5ft wingspan. @eaglespirit was this you? 😉
Nearing the end
It was now after 8pm and the raffle was in full swing. Early on I scored a couple Somalian Elephants from @goldrooster and picked up some Brazilian Silver from @ronaldoavelino. (I'm very excited about receiving both of them. )
We still had about an hour until we were back at the cabin, and the Beer/Jello Shots/moonshine were catching up to us all. I was a little less active in the raffle at this point, but was very happy with the results so far.
Here is the final stretch of river before we started dragging the boats out.

It was crazy. Everytime we looked up there was an eagle flying around. This weekend we are going up the other side of the state. Should be sweet. Pics of it next week.
