The vampire – creature from the mythology of the peoples of Europe. Mostly it was demons, or damned spirits from the mythology.
If you believe the legends, vampires were people who died a “bad” death. This former cruel murderers, people died a violent death or suicide.
Their bodies remained incorrupt for hundreds of years. According to legend, a dead man called a vampire, up at night from his tomb and were looking for a victim to quench his thirst for human blood. In appearance they were described tall, pale, with bloody eyes and narrowed eyes. Vampires endowed with the ability to turn into bats for fast movement. The same vampire could inflict nightmares and bend the will of man. Vampires are not reflected in the mirrors, as it is believed that they have no soul.
The excitement and incredible interest in vampires has attracted the novel of Bram Stoker “Dracula”. A type of vampire from the novel, consider the real Prince of Wallachia – Vlad III.
However, as was already proven, the vampire and the Prince in a historical context have nothing to do. It's just an interesting piece, not a historical document.
Way of struggle.
To fight the vampires used in different ways. In Ancient Greece, in his mouth the dead put a coin. It gave evil spirits the opportunity to subjugate the body.
In Hungary and Romania, at the neck of the deceased left a hammer. If the dead decide to rise, he slit his throat. Eastern Slavs have preserved in different ways. Hung herbs hawthorn over the doors and Windows. In the coffin of the deceased threw a few cloves of garlic (many believed that vampires are afraid of odors). Like most undead, vampires, according to legend, were afraid of silver and the image of the cross. The crosses were hung on the doors, the Windows. All the vampires did not tolerate sunlight, and people feel safe.
To kill a vampire was different ways, namely:
1. To pierce with a wooden stake a vampire's heart. Required aspen. From this tree the cross was made on which Christ was crucified.
2. Burning. The method is effective against most of the undead.
3. Decapitation, suffocation, drowning. In some cases, the dead cut out the hearts.
Vampirism as a disease.
In recent years scientists have proved the existence of a disease which resembles vampirism. The name of the disease Porphyria. A little more about the disease.
Porphyria – a hereditary or genetic disease. It affects the blood cells, liver, blood vessels. Destroyed skin. On the patient's body a lot of scars. Sunlight quickly damage the skin.
