Vegan Starter Kit to Kickstart 2018: Year of the Vegan
Just in time for the new year, a gift for my readers: here’s a Crunchy Vegan Starter Kit to help you and others in the journey to veganism.
A new year, a new opportunity. I must say, my 2017 ended in a whirlwind. So I’ll certainly be taking some time this January to hit the reset button and make some big changes. Now, regardless of how you feel about New Year’s resolutions, the start of a calendar year is always a great opportunity to check in with yourself and your long-term goals. How well are your actions aligning with your goals? Do you need to make some adjustments?
And if you happen to be setting resolutions, perhaps this Kit will help you in the process—whether you’re already vegan or new to the concept.
My audience is diverse; some of my readers are long-time vegans, while some are friends of mine who are simply interested in what I have to say. But I’m fairly certain that the one thing all my readers have in common is their openness to the idea of veganism. And because I know that some of you are still in the early stages of your journey—possibly not even vegan—I wanted to confidently offer a gift in which everyone could find value. So I’ve spent the better half of 2017 crafting a very special resource: the Crunchy Vegan Starter Kit.
What’s Included in the Vegan Starter Kit?
The 70-page Vegan Starter Kit is targeted toward the newly vegan and the vegan curious. Specifically, as I drafted the booklet, I channeled many of my aunts, who have been asking me for years now to share some resources and tips to help them eat a more plant-based diet (Karen, Cindy, Peggy, and Anne Marie—you don’t have any excuses now!!).
The Vegan Starter Kit includes some tips for navigating life as a vegan, understanding the basics about a plant-based diet, and recognizing the motivations for going vegan. This will be a multi-part series, and this initial release is accompanied with the “Eats” edition, which focuses on food, nutrition topics, and simple recipes. Future releases will cover other aspects of the vegan lifestyle.
Even if you’re already a vegan, I’d still recommend taking a look at the Vegan Starter Kit. You can test out some of the 12 recipes crafted by myself (so you know they’re easy!!) and 7 of my talented friends. The recipes include:
Chia Pudding
Kelly’s Pancakes
Josh’s Cranberry Bars
Paul’s Macaroni Salad Hug
Prize-Winning Nachos
Cashew Ricotta
Colleen’s Best Pesto
Kelsey’s Kitchen Sink Lasagna
Maryland Crab-less Soup
Elena’s Filipino Pancit
Zuke “Crab” Cakes
‘Nana Nice Cream
Plus, I think everyone will find the checklists and quick-reference guides in the back quite useful.
What Are You Waiting For?
Whether your personal goals for 2018 include health and wellness, a lighter ecological footprint, mindfulness, compassion, self-love … or whatever, really! … I think you’ll find something valuable in the Crunchy Vegan Starter Kit for you and your loved ones.
Acknowledgements
Many, many, MANY thanks to all my friends who contributed to the Vegan Starter Kit through recipes, input, and personal support these past few months. Your contribution has helped me pull this together, which I hope can in turn help others find their way to veganism. I am grateful to all of you, especially Kelly Bitz, Colleen Howell, Elena Johnson, Kelsey Johnston, Josh Rosen, and Paul Terrigno for your recipe contributions.
I will surely be releasing revised and expanded editions in the future, so if you didn’t get a chance to contribute to this Kit, stay in touch with me for future publications!
