Ingrediets

  • Aquafaba from one can of chickpeas
  • A vegan chocolate slab

Instructions

  1. Drain the liquid (aquafaba) from a can of chickpeas into a bowl. Save the chickpeas for another meal.
  2. In a double-boiler, melt a cup of vegan chocolate. Set aside while following step 3.
  3. With an electric mixer, beat the aquafaba in the bowl until it thickens and stiff white peaks form.
  4. Using a spatula, fold in the melted chocolate.
  5. Pour the mouse into a dish or a few smaller dishes that you want to serve it in.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.

Make sure the bowl you use for mixing is completely clean of grease, otherwise the mousse won't be light and fluffy.

chickpeas are not vegan because of the chicks

Haha good one! πŸ˜‚ thankfully they are vegan because I don't know what I would do without chickpeas in my kitchen πŸ’š

Thanks for stopping by @vommie! 🌱

Looks very good will try

Thank you! Let me know how it goes ⭐️

This is such a great idea. Never used Aquafina very often, only to make meringues. Thanks for the inspiration. They look so good and super easy to make.

I also haven't used aquafaba as much as I would have liked to so I cannot wait to try it out in more recipes! πŸ˜†

Now that you mention meringues, I think I am going to try out making a vegan lemon meringue pie soon πŸ‹ πŸ’š

Hmm sounds so good! And likewise... should use it more but it is so much work to boil it down to the right consistency you need. But I am almost out of pre-cooked chickpeas in the freezer so should soak and boil some in the coming days!

This is crazy! I'm all about quick and easy recipes and with only two ingredients it doesn't get much better than this! We will be incorporating this into our valentine's day dinner :) thank you!

Awesome @terril! I am so glad to hear that! πŸ’š let me know how it goes!

We are all about quick and easy recipes, life is too short to make long and complicated dishes everyday! πŸ˜‚

Yummo!

Damn right @thekitchenfairy! πŸ˜‚ πŸ’š

The chocolate mousse looks so yummy.Pics are great, I love the way the glasses are held.

Thanks, I hope you get to try it! πŸ’š

WOW! I had no idea you could use chickpea water for anything useful! This is amazing. Can you use any other kind of bean-water or only chickpeas?

I have only tried using the chicpea aquafaba. I am sure the others will work too! Let me know if you try it out. ⭐️

YESSSSS! Another great use for Aquafaba! Plus its an excuse to say the word. AAAAQQQQUUUUAAAAFFFFAAAABBBBAAAAAAAA!

Love it.

Haha I can just imagine you having an Oprah moment, shouting AAAAQQQQUUUUAAAAFFFFAAAABBBBAAAAAAAA to the audience πŸ˜‚ πŸ˜‚

Thanks for stopping by @moonunit! πŸŽ‰

I will definitely try this recipe, too! You are doing an amazing job!! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful recipes with us :)

You're more than welcome @plantbasedmiri! πŸ’š thank you for accompanying us on the journey 🌱

Must try asap!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm so glad you like it! πŸ˜† if you give it a try, let me know what you think of the final product! 🌱

No way! It's vegan witchcraft! In the best way possible of course. ;) Looks creamy and delicious!

Vegan witchcraft is the perfect way to describe it πŸ˜‚ as a big baker before going vegan I was worried about exactly how I was going to recreate egg whites. I am not a big fan of egg replacer simply because I believe you don't have to buy an expensive egg replacer when there are perfectly good substitutes lying around your kitchen πŸ˜†

I looove easy recipes with cheap accessible products!
How long did you have to beat the aquafaba? I remember once I tried some recipe like that, and it took me around 20 minutes to thicken it... or maybe it's depends on the mixer...) Mine's very old))

How amazing that these simple ingredients turn into something so luxurious and creamy 🀀 I used a handheld electric whisk which took about 10 minutes to fully firm up, you can also use a handheld non-electric whisk which would take you about 20 minutes to fully firm up 🌱

Thank you for stopping by @steemitbaby! I love your username by the way πŸ’š

mine was electric, and still took 20 mins (Soviet Union mixer). I think if I was making aquafaba desserts on a regular basis, I would buy an automatic mixer which does everything without my hands ;)
thanks, my husband made this username))

wow I had no idea this could be that easy!!! Thanks a lot for posting this! I may do this for Valentine's day tomorrow =)

PS: I've just created a discord channel called "Vegans of Steemit" and it woould be an honor to welcome you there =). Come visit us if you have a moment. Here's the link: https://discord.gg/VQVzpxw

Thank you for your support @jegannath! 🌱 You're the best! πŸ”₯

I welcome you to visit my profile at anytime... :)

Wow, the texture is astonishing! I never thought that plain chocolate and the liquid of a chickpea can might create such a treat ☺️

You're right, it's the strangest thing taking your first mouthful of this mousse, you kind of feel that you shouldn't be eating it, it's that good πŸ˜‚

Thank you for stopping by @rawadventuress! πŸ’š

πŸ˜„ I know that feeling - sometimes when healthy stuff tastes just like the traditional but unhealthy dish and your body just rebels against it πŸ™ˆ

Looks amazing! I'm going to have to try this! I make vegan mayo with chickpea juice instead of eggs - works amazingly! I'm going to have to try this recipe soon! Thanks :)

I need to try this! I've only made Double Chocolate Chip Cookies out of aquafaba, but I really want to start utilizing it more since I eat so many chickpeas already. This looks so easy but so tasty!

@deliciousplants! How wonderful of an entry! Thanks for getting involved! I love easy recipes and this one is just screaming my name! Chocolate and I are super intimately connected ;) Yum yum yum! With recipes like this, anyone can do it! Hopefully we had some extra healthy Valentine's Days this year because of this post ;) <3

I have to make this, wow!!! πŸ’–πŸ˜ŠπŸ’–

Looks amazing! I love mousse consistency but I always failed with aquafaba πŸ˜’ I should try again with this recipe!

The key is to make sure there is no oil or grease in the bowl and or on the mixer attachments you use. I hope you get it right! πŸ˜„
