You may have heard pulled pork, but maybe not jackfruit. It's simple. It's a fruit.. Nothing to do with Jack though.. 🤨
Often vegans - or nonvegans on their way to become one, wants to make food that resembles in a certain manner. Pulled jackfruit is the cruelty-free side to pulled pork.
I had a lovely dinner the other day. I made what you call "Pulled Jackfruit" and threw it in a burger. You can used in every way you want to of course, though the most often I've seen it, is in burgers.
A burger with lettuce, tomato, cucumber and 'avocado-carrot-slaw' - (it's just carrots, avocados and a bit of lemon juice - nothing fancy)
The jackfruit I bought was from a can - I know it exist as fresh fruit too, but haven't come across them in Denmark yet...(I know.. it sort of looks a bit like meat.. but it isn't!
I then sqeezed the water out of the pieces and cooked them in a pot with some onions. Then I made a barbeque-sauce which I poured in to the pot while cooking.
Here you can see how it looked in the casserole.
I used it in a burger and the other day I put it in a tortillawrap.
The final result
Ever tried this jackfruit thing?
I love it. Definitely going to make this again soon!
I´m always in the mood for Burgertime
