Las Vegas Fremont vs the strip!

in #vegas8 years ago (edited)

Hey Steem friends great day for a post, so I will recount our Vegas vacation. My wife and I went to Vegas in April for our anniversary and had a blast. To start off, our flight was an uneventful 2.5hrs to Vegas which I tried to sleep through. We landed at McCarran International Airport and we neatly departed the plane in to an amazing dry 25C temperature, yep we are Canadian - Alberta to be exact.

We picked up our bags and made our way outside to a waiting shuttle which took us to our hotel - the Golden Nugget

The hotel was decent and clean with fair size rooms, but the service we had was great. From the casino servers, to the doorman, to the cleaning staff, all were friendly and helpful. We got to the hotel around 6:00pm and we just walked Fremont for a while trying to get our bearings as this was the first time we went to Vegas. I was actually surprised with the amount of people on the street they were calm and just fun loving. I was expecting obnoxious drunks everywhere but we saw very few. Another thing that surprised me was how clean Fremont street was, very little trash.

The next day we woke up early and found a BBQ truck right on Fremont that opened March 2017 so we decided to try it out. WOW! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and my wife had the garbage bowl, both were just delicious.

It was really slow on Fremont in the morning around 11:30, perfect for getting to know the place. And that was pretty much all we did this day was cruise the shops, eateries, and a little gambling.

The next day we toured container park, the other casinos, and more shops on Fremont...almost did the Slotzilla zipline...almost. We also got to see a bunch of lowrider cars and the people who owned them, it was very cool.

Nights on Fremont are great and you see everything you can imagine like an awesome sax player, sexy ladies, and a storm trooper playing guitar.

The next day we toured the strip and found it truly amazing the money that was spent on these super hotels. Walking through Caesars palace was jaw dropping...especially the prices in the shops!

All in all our experience of the strip and Fremont street was great, however we prefer Fremont street to stay and just tour the strip.
Another great place we visited was the Mob Museum. What a great time for only $20, learning about the rise of the mob in Vegas and seeing the legends was very cool. The gift shop got a bit of my money because we found so many interesting items.

My wife taking out some gangsters!

We were there for 5 days and the time just flew by, we are planning on going back in September for another round...just might actually do the Slotzilla zipline. Well that's about it for now and if you have never been to Las Vegas, book a trip for a few days you will love it!
