Human Ingenuity

I have travelled to many parts of the world, I’ll be honest with you I love a good hotel but most of my travels have been low budget, backpack style trips. The majority of the gear I travel with is camera and scuba equipment. Most of which is heavy and cumbersome.

Over the years I’ve had to come up with some pretty ingenious ways to pack and carry gear. One one of my latest trips to Mexico, I came across this amazing testament to human ingenuity. This tri-cycle is really amazing. It’s difficult to see but on one side of the bike is a wheelchair, not only can this bike carry a second and third passenger but also is fitted with the ability to carry a disabled person without having them get out of their chair. Love this! So smart, so creative!

On a side note, the city I was visiting, Mérida is truly fantastic. This historic city is home to Cathedral of San Ildefonso, the oldest in the Americas; Built during the second half of the 16th century, additionally The House of Montejo is another one of the amazing constructions near the center of Mérida, considered a jewel of the plateresco art. The Government Palace is neoclassical in style and currently houses several murals by the Yucatecan Fernando Castro Pacheco. Considered as one of the most important in the state, among these paintings is the life and history of the Mayan people, from the time of the Conquest to the Caste War.

If your planning a trip to Mexico and your near this city please take the time to enjoy everything it has to offer.

Thanks for reading.

People are very creative when the situation forces them to.
There is this old saying:
“When it is obvious that the goals cannot be reached, don't adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.”

Thank you for sharing.

I love homemade vehicles my uncle built me a go cart when I was a kid. The Cathedral of San Ildefonso looks grand.

People are so creative. I wonder what gave him the inspiration to create a tricycle that so all encompassing.

Great bike, I love it. Is it an old bike?

The ingenuity of people amazes me.

Beautiful country with much to show. The people are very kind and are proud of their roots

Love it! You're right though, the more you travel the more you see this kind of ingenuity, it's not like the vehicles have as many rules and regulations as they do here in the UK!!

Fascinating...

Çok beğendim

I like your style that I rarely do. Never tried two-wheels travel but I think it sounds very interesting

Homemade vehicles are awesome when a government lets you do it. Where I live, even the color of the vehicle must be flawless to get it registered, let alone some modifications...bah..

I love this architecture. Funny cuz one of my favorites churches is also named by San Ildefonso but in Porto, Portugal.

I like the art on that wall.

Thanks for sharing this one! I realised that the more I travel, I do like a decent hotel too! Although i'm not afraid to slum it and sleep in a hammock or a run-down hostel if I need to. That tricycle looks great! Such a great idea. Keep the posts coming! I'll be following you for updates :-)

I love your first photo, i like the fact that the bike has been modified for function, and it represents how over there it is very much so function over fashion. Living day to day lives. Great read keep it up! :)

Wow looks really nice, I will have to check it out next time I am in Mexico.
