It’s done! After 85 days and nearly 28,000 nautical miles, my virtual Vendée Globe has come to the end, I finally crossed the finish line a few days ago and now I found the time to sit down and write.
My final position: 123480th place out of almost 900k virtual sailors, not exactly a podium finish but honestly I’ll take it. This race was an incredible challenge (the second one for me, I had already done it 4 years ago), a mix of strategy, patience, frustration, and small victories along the way.
Looking back, there were moments where I made the right calls and climbed in the rankings, and others where the wind had different plans for me. Some missed opportunities, some bad luck, but also a lot of learning. Following the real skippers battle their way around the globe made it even more special. This edition broke records in every possible way, proving just how far modern sailing has come.
Now that it’s over, I feel I’ll miss it. Checking the wind forecasts, tweaking my route, watching my position shift, it became part of my daily routine. But that’s the beauty of the Vendée Globe: not just a race, it’s a challenge, an adventure, a test of endurance (even for those of us sitting comfortably behind a screen).
To all the real skippers who completed this ultimate test of human and technological limits: chapeau!
Until next time. Fair winds, like always. ⛵🌊
