The situation in Venezuela continues to deteriorate by the day.
People in the country have been dealing with food shortages, medical shortages, runaway inflation, increasing crime, and worse. It's typical to find hundreds standing in bread lines, just trying to purchase their daily necessities.
In the midst of the ongoing political storm, at least 3000 protesters have already been detained and the details of their treatment behind bars would be conditions that you'd expect to find in any fascist hellhole. Those arrested have alleged that officers have beaten them, tortured them with electric shocks, and worse.
Over the last few years, many who've had the means to have left the country entirely; Venezuelans seeking asylum increased 160 percent in 2016.
In the last couple of years, the socialist government in Venezuela has received millions of passport requests as many are still trying to get out of the country, and the rush has reportedly caused a shortage which even the President has acknowledged.
They introduced an online solution to the problem recently, for a higher price, and it's meant to assist the growing passport demand but the site has allegedly been frequently crashing and ineffective as a solution for some.
There are still millions who don't have the means to leave and they are somewhat trapped in this continually worsening situation. Protests continue to take place around the country and there has already been a number of deaths thanks to an escalation in demonstrations, there has been loses for not only protesters but also for the security and police forces as well as for Maduro supporters.
Pro-government supporters think that the protesters are agitators and that the civil disobedience is some US-backed conspiracy to take down the country. For many on the street, they just say that they are tired of the socialist rule, the worsening economic conditions, and one of their demands is that they want a new presidential election to be held.
The international world is watching and many sympathize with those who are struggling against what they perceive to be a dictator and an oppressive system; who are trying to make a better life for themselves and their loved ones.

Venezuela is a great country with beautiful people and lots of natural resources including huge oil reserves. This unfortunate situation, however, shows how greed amd mismanagement can compromise a country with lots of wealth in human and natural resources.
Blochchain technology can help the citizens of Venezuela especially if they move away from their worthless currency and embrace Bitcoin and Steem.
Steemit will help the people of Venezuel by providing many who can blog online a good source of living and yes, they can start without capital. Pls read : Why Steemit will disrupt social media and make socializing profitable again : https://steemit.com/steem/@charles1/why-steemit-will-disrupt-social-media-and-make-socializing-profitable-again

Can u believe people actually want this type of system in america?
Yup, and that in article after arricle leave out that socialism has been the fall of Venezuela. People are not going to work for free. When the government started taking crops grown by farmers for distribution it was over for Venezuelan. If the government would stop robbing people stuff would work out.
Very informative post. Shed light on the world where people may not pay much attention to.
keep fighting for your dreams :)
Its a very sad situation the world is in :( :(
omg! this must be a very difficult time for them..
The media wasnt really covering a lot recently. Thanks for sharing, i wonder how "Maduro" in any way can believe that he is making it through. Met a couple Venezuelian guys, all highly educated well mannered. Such a beautiful country as well.
Thanks for keeping us informed doitvoluntarily
It is sad reading this kind of news about a country that has no reason being in this kind of shape if things were well done from the beginning. I do hope that someday, the people of Venezuela will unit and drive the needed change.
Let's give 'em some Steem!
What can we do to help?
Venezuela is a sad example of the acute need to change the world we live in. Like North Korea and other countries led by people unable to lead. I'm sorry for millions of people suffering innocent people in the world.
Last week I was doing immigration to Panama, And introducing Venezuelans to steemit. I had lots of time waiting around. There are so many coming here now that the permanent tourists here are getting caught up in new regulations.
Unfortunatly many are going to be turned away, But with a steady steem income, they will have money in their hands. And could just float around as permanent tourists in Central & South America, maybe learning how to get needed supplies home. maybe settling in another country.
with a decent supply of coin, you can live a comfortable life any were.
Learning homesteading right here at steemit and moving home to teach others that living government free is not so hard. Mother nature provides all the food and medicine naturally.
As I understand it, It's mostly student protests in Venezuela, looking for a better future. Im sure country people could care less who's in power.
My wife has gone as far as to say when Noriega ran Panama, there was no crime here, the common man was left in peace. Crimes were harshly punished and political dissidents were abused for sure.
Interesting to note that Venezuelans buy gasoline for pennies a liter, as do other oil producing countries. But Canada & USA get robbed at the pumps.
Many Venezuelans are getting into crypto, and will form their own economies and develope their own lines of food and medicine in time. Necessity is the Mother of invention.
Humans overcome insermountable odds every day.
Governments everywere grow themselves while controling the population.
For controling the people is job 1 on all thier lists, And their very reason for existance.
Nuff said
Cheers my Friends :-)
nice news
Never been to Venezuela, but I'm imagining this country being the first one in the world to use crypto currency and get out of this hole. Probably the government will go down and people will triumph.
you know what?
the situation is worst here in Egypt and everybody wants to leave the country and also me want to leave and the situation in the country is the main reason why I'm working online
so, I feel what they feel in Venzuela and wish best of luck to its population

good news
i really feel helpless while reading this... at some point i stopped following any news because in public no-one talks about the reality....i´m wondering what would happen if more people understood whats happening in the world...
I still have an optimistic view...if more and more people join forces this dictatorship (yes it is exactly that) will have to step down. This is a failed communist attempt ( I still believe there's good forms of communism and bad ones). The people will speak...if the masses don't want a clown running their country they have enough power to make that happen. We will have to see. I will be a father soon and I would love my son to go visit his second country Venezuela but not the Venezuela of today. Great post!
The situation of us Venezuelans is getting worse. And the protests are not the only problem. In one day you can see up to 10 people looking for food in the trash. For this reason, we, a small group of Venezuelans are carrying out a charity campaign for these people who are starving. I would be grateful if you read about this and hope to convince you to support us.

Wow this has quickly become a very scary situation. I can't imaging what it's like to be in Venezuela right now. Been following @dollargivilante a bit on this. And it's just unimaginable. Thanks for sharing this very important news with us.
Thanks for shedding some light on what is happening in Venezuela. I see more and more people using Steemit to help the world see what continues to be a huge problem for it's citizens. Stay strong and keep on pushing for change. It does make a difference, although it may take a long time. Te deseo suerte! I wish you luck!
