the lost world in Venezuela

¡Hello Steemians!

I want to talk to you about the great wonders of nature and what better way to do it with these spectacular photos that look like taken from prehistory.

The Lost World is a novel by the Scottish writer Arthur Conan Doyle, about an expedition he made on Mount Roraima.

The lost world Roraima

For people who do not know this magical place, it is called Tepuy Roraima, in Pemón language, Roraima Tepuy which means "dwelling of the gods", according to them the gods take care of the mountain. It is also known as mother of the waters, because from its top, at more than 2,000 meters high, fall large springs of water from their waterfalls (as we can see in the main picture).

Located at the southeastern end of the 3,000 km² Canaima National Park, Bolivar State, Venezuela. The highest point of the mountain is "El Maverick", 2,810 meters. Canaima National Park. It was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site on 12 June 1994.

El Tepuy Akopán (Acopán)

At one end of the mountain ranges, is the Acopán tepuy that stands out above all for its rocky wall. It is the destination dreamed of by hikers.

The Pemón Indians have great respect for it. It is full of myths and mysteries; for them it is a sacred mountain. They say that if they touch it, their anger falls on you. Another of their beliefs is that you should not shout because this makes the clouds shake and begin to rain.

Salto Ángel

The Pemón Indians, according to the story that the life of all human beings originated in the Gran Sabana. They affirm that in the valleys of the Caroní River, there was a marvelous tree called Wasaka that produced various fruits. It has come to be believed that it is the lost garden of (Eden) that speaks the Bible...

In the photo we can see the Pangea supercontinent of millions of years ago

The Orinoco River is one of the most important rivers in South America. The famous tepuyes, the Angel Falls and the waterfalls, such as the Aponguao and the Kamarata, are located in Canaima Park. Some of the areas of the park, are only accessible by air, by plane, or sailing in canoes..

At present, 16 films inspired by the Canaima Park have been made, some of them:.
