She knew it when she saw it: blockchain was what the music industry needed to move forward. Imogen Heap, a 2-time Grammy winner and our trusted advisor, was one of the early blockchain adopters who knew exactly what it brought to the table: “Blockchain technology has come to a point where other industries are looking at it to save time and short out inefficiencies. And in a world where data is open and doesn’t mean a lack of profits, it can make things more profitable.”
We couldn’t agree more.

Music to our ears
Blockchain is the long-awaited solution that can finally fix what’s broken. In music, it’s by creating a sustainable ecosystem, where everyone involved can interact with music directly. That’s exactly what Heap started with her Mycelia Creative Passports project that works on new potentials for music makers and the services that interact with their works in light of the distributed ledger technology and smart contracts. It’s a great way of bypassing countless go-betweens and making sure the artists get the most out of their work — which is partly what we’ve been up to, too.
That’s how we roll
So, we saw this as an amazing opportunity for us to join forces and empower the players of the live music segment by building a global community and an all-in-one marketplace for musicians, venues, agencies, event organizers and music fans. And our collab couldn’t have turned out better! Together, we’re setting a new standard for the industry, rebuilding it from the ground up. How crazy is that?
History in the making
As a strong advocate of blockchain, Heap was also one of the speakers at this year’s European Blockchain Summit, where she discussed its role and applicability in the music world. The event, co-organized by the Blockchain Alliance Europe, took place on April 11. And since we’re the co-founding members of the Alliance, we’re super excited to say the whole event was livestreamed and the videos are available here. Make sure to check them out!
