This January amidst rivers of FUD, South Korea finally is not banning cryptocurrencies [1] It is important to understand that according to a recent survey around a third of the population in South Korea own cryptocurrencies [2] Just the idea of banning them was enough to trigger a popular outrage in the country [3] The question of what politic consequences would have such a ban in such a popular activity between Koreans is interesting to analyze. When it comes to cryptocurrency regulation politicians in South Korea will have to think twice since a considerable part of the electorate is at stake.
