WORKING IN A CAFE FOR THE 1ST TIME SINCE COVID

Words can’t explain how much I missed this cafe - sitting by the window while working/watching people go by. It took a bit of courage if I’m being honest. I walked past this place yesterday and had a little look to see what the social distancing measures are like. I was quite impressed with what I saw, so I decided to come here this morning. I won’t be here for too long - an hour or so, but it’s really nice being here.

It was great to see some of the old regulars also here. At first there was only one other person here, but a few people arrived shortly after. I didn’t visit the loo, but judging from what the barista said to me, it must be cleaner than my kitchen.

Apart from the coffee, I also really missed the people-watching. Watching people is a fun pastime of mine, just observing how people are going about their business. It’s even more interesting now in this day and age. The gyms are obviously open as I can see all the ladies in their yoga gear - those actually doing yoga and those that just like yoga fashion.

One thing hasn’t changed. I still can’t sit outside, which would have been my preferred place to sit, because of the smokers. Most of them haven’t actually bought anything from the cafe. They like to sit for free on the benches outside and smoke, depriving people like me of that space. Sigh.

I’m glad to be alive and well. I hope you all are too.
