Takin' it to the Streets Again.

There have been a lot less problems in the streets here in the big BA Downtown area. It has been winter so temps have been in the high 40's to mid 50's during the day. Today was 70 out (18 centigrade) and I went out to make a meeting. There have not been any posts recently because I have not been out and about to find them due to temps.

I encountered nothing on my way to my meeting at 3:30 p.m. but on my way home there was no way to move south or east which was the direction I needed to move in..

At the time of this capture, these people had just started to unpack their banners and were closing the streets one by one. This was filmed on the famous avenue - 9 de Julio which runs north and south through the city and is comprised of four streets, six now that the bus platforms have bee added. I rode for 15 blocks just to get far enough from the downtown area in order to cross 9 de Julio. Then I started filming the least crowded part of the protest, heading back toward downtown.

You can see, I am riding northbound toward the Obelisco but I was stopped about seven blocks shy of it. The protest will be standing room only across all roads that comprise 9 de Julio for the rest of the night. Protestors have a strange way of attempting to get what they want. Their idea is to cause a lot of inconvenience to people who work downtown and would like t go home for dinner. It is difficult to bother the president, because he has a helicopter and just takes off and flies over it all. They could surround the congress building and keep the legislators from leaving, but somehow that rarely happens.

One thing for sure though, these protestors know how to come in at the right time and cause grid lock. They do it often enough, especially during summer. If it were not for that, I would not be writing about it here.

Bolonqui is slang for desorden or lio in Spanish - Big Mess in English.
Even the word is messed up - original is quilombo
