English
My friend @drewbixcube and I are creating our youtube shows about investing in cryptocurrency. It was called The Crypto Docs since both of us are PhD candidates who are obsessed with cryptocurrency. I also posted two videos on my channel before. it was a lot harder than I thought.
Language skill
I made my first two videos in Cantonese. For those who don't know, Cantonese is the language we speak here in Hong Kong. Even using my first language, the flow was really bad. I would stop and start over again if I felt that there was something I didn't do so well. For example, I would stop if I noticed I used too many unnecessary filler words such as "la", "le" and "ah" at the end of sentences. It took me three days to make a video of 4 minutes just to explain how to use a simple portfolio re-balance that I found on steemit. I just admire how TV host or HK youtuber speak so well and so entertaining for 15-30 minutes straight. This is definitely something I need to practice a lot.
Sound quality
We tried to film the show in a study room, the study room was located outside a school canteen. The room was pretty quiet when we filmed it, but apparently the camera caught a lot of noise and our speech was not clear enough. Drew showed the clips that we filmed to his friends and he said they couldn't understand what we were saying.
Solutions that we found
Divide the video into many sections
Now , when i am making my video, I would divided it into many small sections. Each section would take around 30 seconds. Then I combined them all together. I can therefore make sure I made no mistakes in the video. It wouldn't take long to re-film a section if I spot any flaw.
film with our laptop
We couldn't afford an expensive camera yet since both of us are students. However, we found the sound recorded on my laptop actually sound a lot better than camera. We are considering to buy a small microphone to better record our voice.
team work
Drew apparently knows how to make the video more appealing than I do. I let him do the editing and I work on adding Chinese subtitles and doing research.
Please stay tuned for our first youtube video The Cryptto Docs, and please follow Drew at @drewbixcube
Finally, a picture of us talking about Steemit from our failed recording
