RE: ▢️ Flauwy's Minnow Motivation 🐟🐟🐟: About Resteem Services and SteemGigs

in #video β€’ 7 years ago

mmm i have had a few people post a msg asking for 1 sd for resteeming posts but it seems to go against the grain to me. Its more like being in support of whoreing than supporting people in any genuine way.
There are wonderful giving people here why put any effort into growing another buch of whores? is that not why the world is messed up in the first place?
I would love to get some feedback on this issue.

i agree joe, i dont mind the old follow for a follow or upvote for an upvote but when you start actually paying people to promote your stuff even when they dont like it/care about it thats how you end up with useless crap making it to the top/

Whoreing........Oldest profession in the world.....

For your interesting discussion topic here a little double Tip! 0.2 from me. :)

I think you argue with rather drastical words but I agree that this is not an ideal situation. The same applies for upvote bots as well. Why should you feed these whales or wannabe-whales, right?

But the thing is that the distribution of Steemit in its current form sucks. I hope it gets better with the coming update we can expect this term but so far you gotta do what you gotta do to grow. And these ways are working methods. I don't think that it is a terrible thing to do but I understand and respect that you have your issues with that.

Personally, I want to grow as quickly as I can but also as healthy as I can. I think using resteeming services and upvote bots is a useful way to achieve that without hurting the platform.

Regarding the messages in our wallets I consider that borderline to spam. Right now it is useful for me but if that increases I will certainly find it very annoying.

Joe, I am looking forward to our next conversation. Always open for thoughts. :)

Nah. No different than sponsored tweets or posts. Nothing wrong with it, period. No "whoring", no "useless crap". It's just people who want more exposure for their posts and they are willing to pay for it because the platform itself doesn't provide it - unless you shell out a lot of money for a "Promoted Post", which is a waste of good money for most people.

Resteeming services provide a solution for a problem, which is what most successful businesses do, like it or not. Advertising for others, whether or not you have an active interest in the thing being advertised, is a legitimate business.

yea except the people who want more exposure for their crap are usually posting just that, crap.
its the same on facebook, people promote stuff collect likes and page stats then the page gets sold off for advertising or to a new owner who starts posting crap no one cares about.
there will always be genuine people trying to use the tactic who do post decent content but theyre usually few and far between. it might not be the case here yet but in the future i think it will be.
i see people writing thought out posts that make 0.01c and should honestly get more and then people who just share a random photo of a meme ( guilty occasionally) and make 0.30c-$1.00 but they get more exposure and therefore more upvotes etc. doesnt mean their content is of a dcent quality just means theyve taken advantage of the law of averages.

But that's why a couple of the resteeming services charge what they do - 2 SBD. It makes it harder for people who know their stuff is crap to have it resteemed, because they still won't get good results.

What I've seen so far is that the super cheap resteeming services end up resteeming the crap, and the higher rate services get the decent posts by people who put some effort into what they post, like this guy here with this post: @flauwy. He's not going to post crap and pay @carlobelgado 2 SBD to get it resteemed. He posts decent stuff and resteems that.

But a point you bring up is good, because what some "think" about a resteem is kind of unrealistic. So you might get a guy who just posts a web find he takes a screenshot of and posts that and pays for a resteem, thinking of it like an easy way to get upvotes.

The thing is the people seeing the resteemed posts don't upvote crap and so they'll just ignore the posts that suck. People posting crap will get crap results.

thats a fair point, i havent been on steemit for very long yet so i still have alot to learn. i just dont want it to end up being a pay-towin sort of scenario full of stuff you dont actually want to see. my facebook newsfeed used to be an enjoyable mix of news comedy memes and articles but now most of it is just crappy advertising and the same viral videos over and over.
