DTube Videos - To Intro or Not to Intro? Should I add an intro to my video?

in #video7 years ago (edited)

I want to preface this video by stating that I like good intros. I believe it adds a level of professionalism to every dtube video if its done right (not too long, not too loud, not too many or irritating - there’s some intros that are 30 seconds long or do multiple intros and personally I think that's unnecessary. That’s too long for me - and some that have really super jacked up loud music that kills your ears if you’re wearing earphones - that’s also a no-no for me also.

  1. Everyone produces content that they want to themselves consume. Some like consuming entertainment. Others like news. Others like information. Others like educational videos. What I consume mostly is personal development & news & I like things to get straight to the point. That’s why I watch things at 1.25x and most of the time at 1.5x
  2. I used to have an intro in all of my videos on youtube. Because YouTube is based off a seconds consumed model. Their algorithm is set so that the more seconds people consume your material, the greater your payout. DTube is quite different. Whether it’s 1 minute or 5 minutes, if someone up votes you, you get rewarded - so I personally find the intro pointless.
  3. Personally the content I produce and consume as well is more informational vs entertainment in nature - well I hope you’re somewhat entertained as well.
  4. I like to challenge myself to get things in one take. I studied theatre and I enjoy the improve and the natural things that happen just like in normal conversations, like when I dropped lights, when I forget a sentence and make a joke out of it or when something spontaneous comes up. And I feel an intro cuts into that.
  5. I like the professionalism that an intro brings to a video. It makes it feel more TV or Mini-series, but personally, I’m moving away from those mediums of content and moving towards the more organic content where we hear real people’s raw opinions and perspectives. If I wanted to watch something perfectly polished, I’d watch CNN, MSNBC or some vlogs on YouTube. But I like the raw meat.
  6. I see a lot of great intro’s out there and I appreciate them for those of you that have really super quick, super nice intros. Who knows, maybe one day I may just add an intro! But for now, I'll stick with this format.

Cool thoughts on intros!

I actually also like videos to be brief and to the point and watch them generally at 1.25x speed.

So far I've made only 5 video's on DTube and I try to keep them short so people can watch them in a lost 2-3 minute window. Still figuring out the right format :-)

Hey brotha! Yeah I watched 2 of your videos so far and just watched the one today :)

Keep it going man! That's awesome. I like your thought pattern :) maybe because it reinforces some of my beliefs hehe

I might add intros one day, but for now, I like to just get to it. We'll see I guess! hehe

Cool! I'll follow a bit more of what you do as well. Interesting material :-)

Awesome bro :) where are you from? Are you on discord?

I hope some of the content helps you with your vlogs! That's the purpose behind the channel. Help fellow dtubers and steemians :)

And good looking people like you!

I am from The Netherlands, the tiny rainy country. I just joined the dTube Discord channel actually with @cryptotem!

But you have something very unique! I love your “...and we are live, awesome” at the beginning of every video. I guess that’s all it needs a unique welcoming.
I’m not a big fan of very long intros with loud music, tons of clips and stuff like that. Because at the beginning of a video you want to catch your audiences attention and immediately showing an intro afterwards will drop it again.

Hey that's a good point! Lol

I didn't realize that I do that. I think I stopped saying that for the past few videos. I gotta bring that back. LOL

Hey btw, I finished making your video finally! I'll just edit it and then make the transition and then upload :)

It’s so unique. In my opinion you should stick with it if you like it. That sounds awesome! I can’t wait to see it!

Bro. You just made my day. Thanks for being so encouraging and honest. It means an lot coming from you!

One intro is enough and it ought to be a brief one.
I definitely like this video of yours

Yeah. I’ve been thinking of playing with some b-roll which will be nice.

I think intros are good for actual shows. When you title something ¨TOP 5 BEST SPOONS¨ I just wanna see the damn spoons.

Wonderfull post...Thanks for share bro..
