RE: Mistakes I've Made on Steemit, and How I Plan to Fix Them

in #video8 years ago (edited)

So many great topics in this video. I love your distinction between a good idea and good art. I think Steemit has a real ability to improve content beyond the kind of "articles" found on facebook etc. I want to embrace that aspect to improve my whole approach to writing. My first posts were not designed for Steemit and were ideas, only. I got that immediately and it made me realize that I've been phoning it in everywhere in my life and not really putting myself out there... at all... in any way. I'm aiming higher, now and it's empowering to hear others noticing the same potential and getting behind the basic integrity of being in this for real. Great video! Following!

You are so right. IMO all you have to do is "listen" to what steemit is telling you. For me that seems to always be, "Make the content you believe is great." It does push you hard. In fact, I feel like I understand a bit better why Steve Jobs was such an effective leader. He must have had the rare talent to give his employees this same feeling, even if they hated him for it.

I'd love to know your answer to the question: "What is content?" I found myself asking this a year ago. My response, then, was cynical and bitter. It amounted to something like "content is advertising." I'm past that now and looking at it again. I'll probably eventually post on the topic. I hope you will, too, if it is a topic of interest.
