Hello everyone!
I renewed my Netflix subscription last night, because I wanted to have stuff to watch when relaxing, and I stumbled upon this gem: Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light
It instantly caught my eye, because I have put a lot of time into playing FFXIV: ARR as well as the expansions. I have really fond memories, and I'm sure that I will return to play the new updates in the future.
Here is a comic that I made, featuring @thecastle's character. :]
I've got a huuuuge collection of screenshots already, and I'm sure it will be double the size if I start playing again.
I'm only a couple of episodes into this Netflix series, but it seems very simple and enjoyable so far. I love that there are scenes where they are talking as their characters inside the game. It's basically about a son trying to repair his close relationship with his father by playing games together, except his father doesn't know that the character he met within the game, is actually his son.
Oh, and when I say that they show in-game footage, I mean that they also have actual animated cutscenes that were most likely done by the actual game studio. Thank you Yoshi-P for letting this be a thing. ^^
Here is the Opening, which shows some of their characters:
This is the first series I have seen that takes place in an already existing game world. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've never seen an actual licensed series with a huge focus on a pre-existing mmorpg world. Most shows design their own custom video game worlds that the characters enter. Although, in this series they aren't actually "entering" the worlds, they are just sitting in front of a screen playing.
The series is in Japanese, and you will have to read subtitles, but if you're a fan of cute shows, and mmorpgs, then you might just enjoy it. They are 24 minute episodes, and a lot of different things happen in each one. Like I said, I'm only a few episodes in (there are currently 8 episodes) and it seems like the series is starting to pick up a bit. I know that they fully intend to fight some tough bosses in the series, so that will be cool to see.
Here is a picture of my party getting ready to fight a boss! (I'm the one middle-right)
And, here is another cool looking boss battle picture:
Anyone who has played an mmorpg before will find themselves laughing at the dads antics. If you've ever tried to teach your parent how to play a game before, you will probably relate to the son in this series. I'm going to continue watching it, and I'll probably make another post when I finish the series. I'll have to check if there will be more than 8 episodes. I'm not entirely sure.
This game is perfect for a series like this. It is visually one of my favorites. I absolutely adore the character creation in FFXIV.
My characters name is Freya Stonespire
