Nintendo recently announced the Snes mini, to be released late september in Europe and USA.
For those who did not follow the NES mini craze last year, here is a quick summary. Nintendo announced about a year from now that they would release a special new "mini" version of their original NES console, with HDMI port and a controller identical to the original one, pre-loaded with most of the classic, player favourites games for less than 100€, with very limited supplies.
What happened next was pretty easy to guess, a lot of speculator got their hands on most pre-order stocks, and anyone who wanted to grab one on launch day was on for quite a treasure hunt !
The price quickly rose to 2 to 3 times the original retail price for a complete, unopened console, and you will hardly find any below 230€ today.
The thing is, despite the collector aspect, there were some concerns about the package that cripled the experience, namely the cable lenght that was way too short, the game selection that missed some gems and several little technical issues, but despite all this, it is still one of the most successfull and desired object from the video game industry released in the past few years.
Well, guess what happened last week : Nintendo just announced that they will release a Snes mini, the same deal but with their Super Nintendo, also known as SNES of Super Famicom console, likely one of, if not the most appreciated of all of their hardware.
The best part is that they learned their lessons and will provide more supply (but it will still be very limited and no re-supply) and have made the cords lenght double the size of the Nes Mini ones.
The worst part is that, after the original Nes mini craze, there are many, many more speculators and investor at work to prevent you from getting any at the retail price, everyone acting in a FOMO (fear of missing out) impulse.
So, should you try to get your hand on one, and how?
This part is my very biased opinion, from a snes and easy, good deal lover point of view.
There are two good reasons to get a snes mini now :
It comes with some of the best, most innovative and well polished, as well as future defining pieces of video games history, and you get to play all 21 of these for the price of the latest Activision or Ubisoft title, which will most likely provide far less enjoyment than any of these game, alone! I already played, and replayed many times most of these games, and still own the original copy for most, but I am still very excited to play them again with proper upscaling on my HD flat screen TV. I could, and would if there is any interest, write article about almost every single games included in the package and how they affected my taste, my expectation and provided me some of the best moment of gaming of my whole life.
You are very unlikely not to be able to make some profit out of it, should you want to sell it for any reason, even if used. As this is going to be a rare and desired product, and will likely follow the Nes mini destiny, you will even be able to sell an used version for more than you bought it, making the experience awesome, and lucrative !
Now, the biggest question, how can you get one?
There will still be many supply confirmation for the biggest retailer in the weeks to come, you will just have to set up alerts, and be very reactive when supply are back for pre-order.
Amazon could be a great choice, as they will provide it for 79€, and are likely to still have many stocks.
I would suggest putting alert and checking on all countries of Amazon that you may be able to order from, an awesome french site provide an alert system for most french web retailer and european amazon, if you leave the page open, it will start playing mario star theme when any store got some pre-order back !
This site can be found here : http://snesmini.fr/
For people outside of France and Europe, your best bet is likely to do the same with the biggest online and physical retailer around your location, there will be new stock confirmation in the coming days, so new pre-order possible, be quick, and will be able to enjoy getting one of these gems :)
And about getting more than one copy? I would not suggest to do so as it would prevent other people really wanting to enjoy it of getting one, but if you plan on giving one or two as an holiday presents, it could be a very good idea to grab these now ;)

I'd really like to get two of these--one to sell, one to keep. You are right that it will likely sell over MSRP. A fairly sound place to stick a few bucks for awhile.
