Ok, here are my 5 favorite NES games. Which would you also have on your top 5? Which would you have that I left out?

  1. Battletoads: This shit defies description. Just really good action game, really lovable characters.
  2. Contra: Sideways shoot-em-up. Upvote to the first person to correctly name the Konami code -- no googling!
  3. Snake, Rattle & Roll: Size matters. You want a long snake but long snakes are hard to manage.
  4. Legend of Zelda: The best save the princess game ever, arguably. Also, the first action RPG with mass market success.
  5. Pinbot: Just an awesome arcade pinball game that most people probably missed on NES. Had a really great feel to the gameplay.

I definitely could have done more and I definitely tried not to pick every single obvious game. Leave your game of choice or games of choice in the comments if you are so inclined :)

What?! No Mario?! 😩

Again, that would have been a bit too obvious :)

Contra & Legend of Zelda are awesome. Can't believe how hard these NES games are though. Games nowadays are MUCH more forgiving.

Have you played the newest Zelda on Switch though? That is arguably the best game of all time.

I actually haven't touched the switch yet, but from what I saw online it looks worth a try for sure. You have a Switch?

Yes I do and I'm totally hooked an that game. It's such an adventure, so much to do. The world is so big. Plus, there are expansions coming out soon.

I was a little hesitant of the Switxh actually. But I find myself gaming a lot more in lots of different places because it's portable.

Plus, the kids love the switch as well. Everyone's happy. Except the misses I guess...

Nice.. I never had a NES :( went straight from the old Nintendo console to the Sega Megadrive. My favourite game on that was the Sonic 3d one which had an open-topped cartridge - you could mess about and put other cartridges in the game and sometimes it changed it I think lol

i recall that tyler. were u in the UK when u had sonic 3d by chance?

Yeah mate!

Ok, thought so. I believe it was called Genesis in the states. Sonic 3d was on genesis here in the states.

Ah, interesting. I love watching back about old video games now, it always amazes me how I used to think the graphics were good ages ago and how far we've come since! Crash Course video games was a great watch on youtube, did you see it?

Nah, I didn't but I'm a check it out now. Good looks.

Castlevania, paperboy, double dragon were important to me :)

paperboy almost made my top 5. i loves castlevania SOTN on GBA u ever play that?

Nope i skipped the gba
