Public education these days, in my country at least has become about training kids for the workforce. Whether thats being a manager or flipping burgers, they really arent too bothered about expanding your mind, just testing the shit out of kids and putting them into some nice pidgeon holes.
Of course education wasn't much better in my day, pretty much everything of value I learned outside of school.
A proper education can only be gained by the rich; the controlling class of tomorrow need to know philosophy, politics, Latin and so on, so they can run rings around the less educated masses.
