Why I'm in love with the Mekong Delta

During my trip around Vietnam, I lived in different towns in the Mekong Delta and I enjoyed the easy life there. After spending 2 months in the busy Ho Chi Minh city, I was happy to move to the countryside. Here are some points that make the area special!

Relaxed
There are several towns and villages, bigger and smaller too with a peaceful and relaxed atmosphere. But it doesn't mean it’s boring. Especially in the evening and the morning, when the weather gets cooler and every citizen eats out and has some outdoor fun together. I loved just going out to the riverbank and sipping the ice cold smoothie.

Close to Ho Chi Minh
The Mekong Delta area is huge, even so, you can live closer to the capital city of South-Vietnam. So if you need just a few days for having a party or shopping, you can easily take a bus to Saigon.

Better prices
Every city has its own unique feature. Ben Tre, the Coconut Province is famous for its coconut types so you can buy as much as you want. And guess what? It’s extremely cheap and sweet! On the other hand, you can have breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a better price. Not to mention the fruits. Take a walk in the fruit gardens of Vinh Long Province, and have a taste of fresh pineapple, banana, mango or guava.

Fruits everywhere
In the Mekong Delta, they grow many kinds of tropical fruit such as banana, pineapple, watermelon, durian, jackfruit, rambutan, mango, mangosteen, dragonfruit. I usually bought these on the hidden streets.

Want more?
The air is better and lighter, you can feel its freshness.
More space, towns are not crowded.
Plus you can watch the sunrise from a boat in the Mekong.
