Who's Got Vinyl? - Red Hot Chili Peppers - Give It Away 7' single (including Search and Destroy cover)

in #vinyljunkies7 years ago

Some days ago I shared the "Bohemian Rhapsody" 7' single. Today, I'll share another 7'. But first of all let me say that there have been really nice #vinyljunkies posts from @rossfletcher @themagus @vgc5000 & @cryplectibles. Thanks guys! It's really interesting what you share!

So let's go for today's #vinyljunkies:

A friend of mine introduced me to Red Hot Chili Peppers after the Blood Sugar Sex Magik release in 1991. I bought the cd that is still in my top albums of the 90s. Years after I found this 7' vinyl single and couldn't resist to buy it.

The album cover has a Chinese style (well, It reminds me that, don't you?). Not sure if the art is related to the song, I don't see any coincidence, but talking about Red Hot Chili Peppers all is possible!

I'ts a little bit confusing where was this 7' published. It says "Made In Germany" but there is also a "France" reference. Anyway no words in German or French, all in English.

As you can see, on the back cover, there is written with a pen the date "10-X-91". I bought the 7' single in a street market so I suppose that this date, October 10th, 1991 is in reference on the day that a radio station received the single. The album was officially launched on September 24th, 1991 and the "Give It Away Single" some days before, on September 4th, according to Wikipedia Source

Both sides of the vinyl are in very good condition. I'm sure the radio station guys weren't fans of the Peppers! 😂

The songs were produced by Rick Rubin and enginered by Brendan O'Brien, the men of the moment.

Let's see the two songs that includes the single:

"Give It Away" is one of the most popular songs of the band and the first single from the album. The music video was incredibly addicting and today has more than 55 million views in Youtube. Flea and Anthony Kiedis hypnotize you in the music video.

Anthony Kiedis sings in a really own way. A very recognizable way. And when you listen to the song, the words "give it away now" rest inside your head for a long time. Addicting.

"Search and Destroy"
The B-Side has this Iggy and The Stooges cover. Kiedis and the rest of the Peppers made a really good work in this cover, very loyal to the original one.

In 1993 this cover played by RHCP was featured in the "Beavis and Butt-head" movie, introducing some irreverent comments from those crazy guys.

I've seen them 3 times and wish i had some good photos, but that's not the case. I'd never heard the Stooges cover either. Thanks for sharing! I'll keep my eyes peeled for this!

The cover is pretty cool and the cover of The Stooges too. I hadn't heard it !

And! thanks for the mention!
