It is quite interesting and not surprising that everyone will like to marry a virgin if possible. Many graduates will prefer to get back to their villages to pick a girl they will marry if they are sure of getting a virgin, they will leave all the girls they have been flirting around with on campus. Nobody really wants a second hand lady; nobody will like to marry a girl that everyone in the street had laid upon. One of the greatest gifts that God has given to humans from birth is virginity. For girls, their virginity is more obvious because it can easily be detected by physical examination. Virginity is a precious gift and it deserves to be preserved. To marry a virgin is like getting a new car or cloth that nobody else has used. It is fresh from the market; untouched and clean.
Who couldn't want to marry a virgin? The answer is yours.
The question is who is a virgin? A virgin according to the Oxford mini reference dictionary is one who has never had sexual intercourse. But this is not the only type; there are basically two types of virgin in the sight of God. Any person can become a virgin in two ways namely virgin by first birth(physical virgin) and virgin by new birth (spiritual virgins).
VIRGIN BY FIRST BIRTH: Everybody is born a virgin, for a boy it's difficult to determine, but for a girl it is detected by examining the opening that leads to the vagina. A sheet of membrane called hymen covers that opening from birth and only has a little opening for the girl to pass her menstrual flow. Once a girl has her first sexual intercourse, the hymen is thorn or sutured. From that time she stops been a virgin. The tearing of the hymen during the first time can cause minor pain and leads to drop of blood. A married wife uses this blood stain as evidence to prove her virginity to her husband. In the old testament any girl who could not prove this could be stoned to death for being promiscuous (lev.23;13-21).
REGAINED VIRGINITY: One can regain his or her virginity by the new birth which is been born again. When a person is born again, the person becomes regenerated and totally transformed. (2nd core.5:17).
The hymen that was broken is already broken but you are a new born child and a spiritual virgin. The issue of virginity seems to be an outdated one, most people mock at people who say they are virgins. But the truth still remains that virgins are still very much valuable in the eyes of God and when they finally marry they earn the unending trust of their spouse for the rest of their lives. The dangers of loosing your virginity pre-maritaly are innumerable, some of them include: unwanted pregnancy which often leads to abortion. Which can damage the womb or kill.
- Total loss of trust between couples .
Finally virginity still means a lot to God and man, no matter how much some persons try to despise or condemn it,it is a great treasure which should be preserved till marriage.
