Is this how one feels descending into the virtual world! Source
Hello Steemians
Ever dreamed of owning a virtual land, and that too on a decentralized blockchain? Then surely, Decentraland is the place for you. Decentraland is a virtual platform where you can buy, sell, rent, transfer, contribute or develop your virtual land. Ever wanted to open a Coffee shop with hot waitresses serving warm Mocha or cold frappes? Decentraland will allow that. Want to contribute land in a project, like, an anarchist district? Decentraland will allow that too. Or maybe just rent out your land to some other company or genius next door? You can do that too in Decentraland!! The possibilities are just endless.
Gotta catch 'em all?
Etheremon, a popular blockchain based game, has already announced that it will be collaborating with Decentraland to offer an Etheremon experience within their virtual reality platform. Sounds cool, huh! And don't be surprised if you find Cryptokitties, Aethia and other games on Decentraland too. But gaming is just a small part of it. As I said you can build anything you want. Like I had some plans for Steemit and I wrote a post about it few months ago.
Being able to develop your land with an easy to use GUI interface is still a bit far away, but there are already some CLIs (command line interface) out there. Coders, software developers can probably try those tools and gain an early edge. You can use this official Decentraland CLI tool.
Just yesterday, Decentraland released the land market, making it possible for anyone to buy, sell or transfer their land parcels (piece). How to use the market? Well most of you will find it very easy to use, but still if you are new, you can follow the below steps:
- Just like every other ETH Dapp, Decentraland also requires the use of Metamask to use this market. For those of you, who are new to ETH Dapps (Decentralized applicatons), Metamask is a browser extension, which allows you to interact with any ETH Dapp on your browser, without having to download any additional software or hosting nodes.
- Next, you will need some MANA tokens to buy the land. MANA is the native currency of Decentraland, just like Steem is of Steemit. You can easily buy some MANA on Binance.com. You will need at least 8000 MANA to buy a piece of land as per the current status. But expect it to go further ahead.
- Then just buy or sell your lands in the market. You can also transfer lands, like if you want to gift it to your wife.... Couldn't build a house for her, well then just gift her the virtual land, she will do the rest!
- After purchasing lands, you can also name or add descriptions to them. Just to give a unique touch.
Sure graveyard is a booming business in many countries now days... :(
Feel free to check out some of my land slots for sale here. Ya, they are a bit more expensive than the 8,000 MANA ones, but hey I am also giving you unique land names and descriptions and ideas on what to build on them! So it's only fair I guess.....
What do you think you will build if you purchase the land? Or will you just rent out the land and get some passive income? Would you like to receive a land parcel on Decentraland as a gift? Let me know in the comments section. If this post crosses $500, then one reply author will surely get a piece of Decentraland from me. 😄
