We're halfway through our Visita Iglesia journey tonight! We've just finished visiting our third church as a family. It's different from how I used to celebrate with my grandparents, visiting all seven churches in one night. But creating new traditions with my own family feels pretty special too.
On Holy Thursday, Filipinos traditionally participate in Visita Iglesia, visiting seven churches to pray and reflect on the final moments of Jesus Christ's life before his crucifixion. Instead of candles, we offered quiet prayers in each church. It's amazing how each church has its own unique charm - one grand and historic, another with peaceful gardens, and the last one filled with serene background music. All felt calming and perfect for reflection.
The most important part is being together as a family, honoring our faith and remembering the significance of Holy Week. We'll definitely visit the remaining four churches tonight, completing our Visita Iglesia tradition for the year. Can't wait to see what memories we create on this journey!
